I totally agree with Mr, Phani mohan here, and India needs to act on carbon emissions which is rather touching alarming levels these days, every day I see the pollution check in one of the premier news channel and it keeps rising regularly, and it also depends on individual and their practices...so Government should act against it irrespective of what developed countries are doing.

Why are we trying to fix something which was not done by us, and the carbon emission is highest from US and China and other developed countries, and India though has contributed very less for it, but the onus should be on the developed countries to give solutions regarding these things and help the developing nations in that regard than the other way around.

Due to hige level of carbon emmission, the world's temperature has drastically changed, This is affecting not only the developed coumtries but also the developing and uder developed countries. Natural calamities are occuring frequently causing more damages, The developed countries can tackle these kind of situations well with their Economic strength, but for the developing countries like India, It will be a tough task.

India ranks 5th in the world and should definitely work towards it. just reducing our carbon emission levels won't help. We need to develop new technologies which would not only help the world in bringing emission level down but also add to our Forex reserves. Govt. can only support. it is the responsibility of corporates lead th way. It is an opportunity for us.

Yes. Whether other countries act or not India should act first on this issue. Let us clean our backyard first and lead the show rather than following others. Remember Leaders always lead from front. We will see India as Leader by 2020. Let us not ape the US and China and for that matter any country in our progress towards the Leadership. India has already suffered enough by transgressing from its value based culture and policies and following the alien culture. Thanks.

Global warming is an issue concerning the entire humanbeing world over. It is highly important that india would not turn back from playing a positive role for reducing carbon emission without waiting further for attaining our contrbution towards the menace in pace with that of the other countries, the developed countries in particular. It is to be borne in mind that we are going to be hit worst as we are mainly depended on agricultural production which again is depended on regular sufficient Monsoon. Shorter and more intense monsoon may becme the norm with water starved areas becoming desertified. The Glaciers in India are melting away rendering our perrnnial rivers like Ganga, Brahmaputhra and Indus becoming seasonal. The ealier we start acting the better the others also get sencitised.

This is a very sensitive and critical subject, therefore India should act on carbon emissions as well as insist others to follow its steps. This way we can force others also to adopt the Way, else we can't force others. Because God says that why do you advise others for something which you don't practice yourself?

India need to cut down its carbon emissions. But not at the petty reasons of firewood usage in rural areas or methane emissionsfrom our farm lands. Rapid industrialisation should be augmented with the less carbon emmitting technologies

The issue is vital  for whole of the huminity. The plus and minus are not affecting the particular nation or the setor. We must be a part of positive contributers to the society, the universal society. Otherwise also, if donot contribute than what we will gain and if we contribute than what we will loose. The answer is nothing for both the quetions and therefore we should contribute which will earn some thing to the huminity.

All nations have obligation to protect the environment. If some nations are not doing it, this is their sin. India should not take those an excuse & should do its part of duty.

This has nothing to do with rich or poor nations. The top priority is to minimise the use of conventional resources and maximise the use of renewable resources. In the long run, the benefits are that we leave our future generations the valuable resources, refrain from polluting the environment.

Cutting on emissions and restoring ecobalance, is one such area, in which all the help from all the sides is welsome. And sooner, the better!.

While summits and discussions on common protocol to cut emissons will go on, India must not wait for that. Unilateral efforts to cut down carbon emissions should be taken up immediately.

Increasing green cover is the most effective measure of controling carbon in atmsphere. India as a nation, and each Indian as a responsible global citizen must take up trees plantation and restoring forests.

Pollution Control Board of India have the certain set of norms regarding carbon emission in the atmospheare, emission shall be within the standared fixed by them, additional control may be introduced in line with the norms adopted by other world nations or WHO as the case may be.

Irrespective of International mechanisms and support India should go ahead and implement policies in renewable's, Emissions, Agronomy, water conservation as most of our urban infrastructure collapse is linked to lack of Green policy. GOI is lacking will. Every Citizen of this country has right to clean Air, water, Food and shelter. Our present Practices lack strength to impose and penalise culprits who destroy environment.

India definitely should take the initiative. We cannot seat idle only because we are not developed. Neither we are dependant on anybody's decision. If they are not taking the step, we should. This will be a clear pointing on them saying they are the ones who started polluting the environment and we started cleaning it...

While Global Warming might be real it might not be necessarily `man made`.Searching with the keywords `global warming hoax` on Google or Youtube gives a different and fuller picture it seems.

Is global warming real? Or it is a fabricated data? Research are being conducted where the end results are already finalized and data are collected to support the end result. Any data against the end result will be dropped.

Under this condition, India shall go for its own monitoring system and decide and advise the global community. It at no point of time shall succumb to the pressure of other nations who ever and how ever mighty it may be.

India should not commit but do it voluntarily by keeping our future generations interests. Tree plantation can go in a big way as we have cut more trees to facilitate concrete jungles by listening to developed countries (laying roads; buildings construction)  It’s like this:-If developed countries don't value combined family and started encouraging nuclear family, we are following them without any commitment but voluntarily and have been seeing the repercussions in old age problems which will again lead to an opportunity for developed countries to sell pension and insurance products. Here also why developed countries are putting pressure on us to commit is to sell their technologies to us for cleaning up the environment. But very interestingly, we can develop our own indigenous solar thermal, solar PV, wind and hydro technologies. US is pushing nuclear power so as they can sell their nuclear power equipment to us. "CONFESSIONS OF AN ECONOMIC HITMAN" written by JOHN PERKINS is an eye-opener to understand the true picture of all these international power games. If our voluntary measures in reducing CO2 emissions happen in the above direction, a sea change can be expected in the +ve direction.

If we commit, we will be under pressure to quickly implement by using more and more imported technologies and if we do it voluntarily, it will put pressure on developed countries to support us in financial terms as well as technology transfer. Here we should also look at practicalities as we have been witnessing how successful is the ban of smoking in public places and ban of dovery, etc. Voluntary measures always bring positive changes than forced measures...Just see how developed countries forced measures are leading to huge political, economical and security imbalances across the globe?

Any developing country should cut CO2 emissions voluntarily by properly negotiating on proper technology transfers/developments. To tell honestly, while we have been struggling to implement solar PV crystalline technologies in India, developed countries have been doing well in Concentrated PV and Solar Concentrated Thermal Technologies. We cannot/should not any more accept intentionally delayed clean technology launch in developing countries.

I am in total agreement. If something was not done by us we obviously cannot fix it however hard we try. While Westerners use natural gas for heating their Swimming Pools and showers in winter we are in the process of providing even a basic electric connection to millions of homes. So how can we now be forced to STOP BUILDING POWER PLANTS AND INDUSTRY CRITICAL FOR OUR DEVELOPMENT while they continue to waste the earths critical resources?SEE WHAT THEY HAVE DONE TO THE PRICE OF OIL.IT HAS INFLATED THE PRICE OF EVERYTHING WE USE TODAY.From fertilizers to produce crops to the diesel for agricultural pumps to the fuel used in transportation and storage. How can our our people feed themselves?

The scientific community, all over the world, last its credibility. So India can not act depending upon international data and statistics. At the same time India shall form its own policy for the protection of environment and be a leader to the world community

With only 5% of the worlds population & responsible for a whole 30% stock of emissions its the onus of 'developed & rich' countries like US that should take the lead not a developing nation like ours where even the top 10% urban population emits well below the global per capita emissions & where such emission cuts could lead to a serious economic fallout where still 70% of the people lives still below the poverty line & every 2nd child is malnourished.

Still its a global call & India too will be very worse affected if something concrete has not done as we are much populous & agriculture based economy where rising sea levels can do the disasters.

Its the call for humanity, instead of getting the passes, OECD countries should take the initiative together taking into confidence the developing world like providing them proper technology & adequate funding etc to cope with this global threat.

Its too early to take any decision. I mean developed nations are not talking any initiative. There must be some reason behind it. Who knows, tomorrow, they may not like our decisions and bann some step ! We are still dependant on the "Bann" decision of western world. I think we should wait for some time, let them start and them should work more than them in this regard.
