While the idea of going paperless is very enticing yet the practical experience has shown that it may not be completely feasible. To give a small example,I remember KPIT CUMMINs way back in late 1980's starting a project of making their office completely paperless and later realising that this was not completely feasible due to various reasons. I believe that we should have a hybrid approach where we maximize processes which can be made paperless. We do need to remember that while making the economy paperless we also need to balance it with sustainable development, the impact on environment, which is turning out to be the big threats of the future if attention is not paid to them. I do not know whether this will end corruption but if implemented then it will be a blessing to the disgusting and pathetic nature of currency notes that people have to handle every day.

I believe that with the way our economy is going, it would be beneficial for India to become a paperless monetary society.

I dont think so. That can happen only if the infrastructure is good both in terms of distribution and security when it comes to transactions.
