I feel Internet should be made a fundamental right. It is an information hub which can help in lots of areas from fertilization to high tech MNCs. Yes it can help the terrorist groups and other such organizations but the government should also make use of the same source to stop them. In this modern era, lots of people are accessing net for their purpose. In the current scenario, still there are places where children are lacking education. Proper knowledge can be spread to villages/ rural areas through the use of Internet and proper guidance.

Knowledge of IT is basic initiative but how far is third world eg. Inida is concern how many of above 60's are knowing basic fundamental of computer operation? before that one should have to take initiative to get literate old citizens and let them show the importance of IT then only we could move for use of Internet as fundamental right

It is a fundamental right. It is used as a medium of expression and cheapest and fastest way of communication. It is also the best source of knowledge and information with social awareness today. For a democracy to function well, the people should be informed. So, Internet should be called as a fundamental right..

A plain yes/no option cannot adequately address the issue, the convolutions are many;geography, terror potential, porno incl child content, dating fraud..the list is quite endless. At times an apparent aberration or denial is required to meet the larger national or social good. The sheer ubiquity of the service once universally available, presents challenges of mind bogling proportion.Availablity should be a case by case matter;regulated if required.

For India, it is too premature to propose that "Internet access be made a fundamental right". Why ? --- We could not reach electricity to so many villages as of now not to speak of food, shelter and clothing to all --- Basic computer Education could not reach many when a PC in all house-holds remain a distant dream --- We are just learning that we have a law named Right to Information just introduced. We do not know how to use it or how our lives may change for this law --- Education to all is yet to be achieved when so many children are dyeing for mal-nutrition. School drop-outs are many though partially checked by providing Mid-day Meal in schools Apprehensions : all information in the Net may not be correct, some are half-truth, some are motivated. Internet is the carrier of all data-videos-images : some are not welcome for the children. ............................

I am in support we are far behind the time when internet would be treated as fundamental right. The reason being developed countries have internet access at almost every home since they are purely dependent on internet, they have one laptop for every child policy in their education system, eLearning is the buzz word, the bandwith, infrastructure is world class, mobile generation. In developing countries like India we really need to focus towards other fundamental rights and things like poverty, improvement in education system. Mobile has gradually started reaching each and every household but still it would take more years when we can think of computer at every household and people would not only be literate but computer literate.
