Well I shall comment on the pros of using mobile phones for education...

Today mobile phones are not just a medium to communicate with each other through voice or text. Its more of a computer in a smaller package. The dictionary, the web and not to forget the 3G that will enhance the internet facility in mobile will all help the student in getting all the data that he/she requires to fulfill his project or complete the work.

Kids are smarter today and they need smarter gadgets to enhance their knowledge.

Mobile can also help the parents to keep track on their kids as to where they go and where they are...Right now AT&T provides that service to its customers in US...hope to see that service to be introduced in India as early as possible...

Why look at the negative side always...Think positive and stay positive...

According to me if kids are given mobile phones for education it would lead to so many dis advantages. kids are kids only and they always want the help of teachers in their education. They want to be more interactive with their faculty as they will be having lots of doubts on their subjects which is possible only in class room education. More over as they are kids there is a chance of misusing mobile phones which may effect their future. Mobile phones might drag their attention from education to some other danger areas as they are always connected to Internet in mobile education.

What Miss Sarika has said is the traditional view about kids. kids should move along with the new technology. I think most of the kids in modern world knows how to use mobile, so this situation should be exploited for adopting latest education technique.

Hi Amith, good points. But you do not know the minds of the children they will not use it for education. The main application used by the kids are only games. Most of the kids use mobile only for that. This spoils both their health and their education. So I think it will not help for education.

Thanks.....

In today's age, kids use the negative side of mobile phone more than positive ones. Whatever mechanical facility given, kids will always use direct help of teachers rather than mobile ones. On that from a very childhood, giving them cell phones will effect their education and character. That is why they should be given mobile phone from a very childhood age...
