It will not be long before doctors walk out with MBBS, MS and MD degrees from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT). Plans are afoot to table a bill to amend the existing statute of the IITs to allow them to introduce medical studies. "Till now, we had churned out efficient engineers. Now, we will also be committed to producing world-class doctors". Should Medical courses be introduced in IIT's??

Medical education in india is becoming a restricted domain and is also effecting the healthcare requirement of common man, recently government introduced the rural medical course (BHRC) which clearly signifies that Indian government has failed in last 60 years from independence to bring the desired healthcare facility to common people. Most of the professions have seen tremendous changes in their educational and research activities but healthcare still remains an un-experimented area (un-touched area for innovation and technology application). The isolation of clinical profession from Medical to Non-Medical domain is huge and creates a gap that needs to be addressed. India is country with so many and huge aspiration, we cannot leave the future of health profession to a bunch of egoistic & self centered health professionals. Such a blend of education is necessary to understand and solve the real nature of life and its impact on technology after all every science has a basic objective to improve human life. We all should be thanking to the people from IIT to take such initiative which is in every way full fills the dream of youngistaan.

i don't understand why people always talk about IIT and IIM. there are many institutions where facilities are required. Well i think Every Institution have every course that can help the student or people of their area to customize and produce the valuable professional of their field. IIT and IIM has only few institutions they cant give such the number of valuable resource of engineer to country which is required. for this all institution in this country should work together for country benefits.

I think its the right move....and the bill should be sanctioned in the parliament regarding this, IIT's are know for their best crop of engineers who pass out from these institutes, if the bill is sanctioned we can see really good doctors coming out these prestigious institutions. Its a very timely and appropriate move, I wish this approval is in place so that the MBBS course can start from next academic year onwards itself.

I think Biomedical is already running in IIT . I don't think we should introduce medical courses in IIT. Moreover IIT has a brand value thats quite powerful even by international standard for its Engineering Courses and its MBA course is no where in the picture and from couple of friends I have learned that its way below par to its Engineering education standard. To sum it up , they should not for it will be another confused brand .

Why!! Test cricket is the best form of cricket and that tests the real power of a player. We should not get lost in glamor and forget the roots should we??
BJP too is forcing him to resign but he is seeking legal options to stay in. No one wants him, everyone knows how corrupt he is still he is not willing to leave! what should this attitude be called? Do you think he will resign at will ?
