Should Modi be dethroned from CM's position in Gujrat?

Yesterday, the supreme court has appointed investigation team on Narendra modi on 2002's Gujrat riots whereas the Congress immediately asked him to give resignation. That followed a petition from Zakia Jaffri, widow of former Congress MP Ehsan Jaffri who was killed in the riots, and advocate-activist Teesta Setalvad on the wider conspiracy surrounding the 2002 communal frenzy.

http://www.topnews.in/files/narendra-modi1.jpg

That petition had named Modi, who was chief minister when widespread violence directed at the Muslim community broke out in February 2002 after the burning of a train at Godhra that left 59 Hindus dead. The violence, which raged intermittently for weeks, left hundreds dead. It is perhaps for the first time that a sitting chief minister has been summoned to appear before a SIT on mass murder. It would be appropriate that he should step down before appearing before the SIT.

So users, do you think Modi should be dethroned from CM's position in Gujrat?

Absolutely sir, & let there be Mr Lalu or Mr Mulayam or Mayaji or even congress, these are country's most pious seculars.

Let Mr Lalu to see the 'grass' on the other side; 'green Gujrat(one of our affluent states)' or let Mr Mulayam fulfill his wish to donate some money to 'very very neighboring' Pak or let Mayaji spending the hard earned Gujju people's income making her Statutes or doing rallies & it could be a safe heaven for absconding stalwarts of congress, wanted in Sikh riots.

Why people? At least he is doing some good. People like Mr Ratan Tata is praising him & there's are sizable number of people not only in Gujrat but across India & even abroad who wants him to be there....lets give him a chance,,,,till he is catching the 'Nano's': that's good for state at least. Last but not the least; there are no further riots where as the state has a long history of such riots even before MODI.

Thanks Arunangshu for referring.

So, all my dear Countrymen. You think a person who is a Mighty Killer(killer of thousands of innocent people) should stay in Power his extreme ideology, due to the reason that the Growth in that state is Immense.

Since, it is Gujrat alone which is extremely developing. Rest India is doing Nothing or not developing(Is that what you are trying to tell me??? ). Let me tellyou, Bihar is growing at 11%, and they do not need any Narender Modi.

Also, Mr Dilip you are trying to tell us (Indian) that the Hitler's Ideology was correct. Please guys grow up, stop spreading communal hatred (Especially Mr. Dilip)

I think, Honourable Mr. Modi must resign on Moral Grounds atleast. Everybody is aware about the Reality of Gujrat Riots, though we have been running away from the Reality.

There are many caese, where Gujrat Police has killed innocent people from a particular religion. I think its high time to realise the fact that, these politicians are of no good. We have example of Mr. Kalyan Singh(as he keep flipping in BJP, SP etc parties.)

Narendra Modi is a Murderer. He killed thousands of innocent people in Gujrat in 2002. He doesn't deserve to be the cheif minister of a state since the duty of Chief minister is to take care of every citizen in his state.

If Mr Modi does not resign of his own, to create high example in to-day's politics, there is no law that he may be removed until a guilt is proved. It is the voters of Gujrat to decide when next election comes.

if modi have to be removed from CM chair, then every congress leader has no right to stay in power! courtesy what happened to sikhs 25yrs back. Modi came for interrogation ask the congress leaders to do the same? they cant even in their dreams. its a shame that a sardar is congress's PM candidate.

Why single out Modi, there is genocide in Kashmir, many Kashmiri Hindus were murdered and their houses burnt, hindu women raped and killed, was the govt then moved out of power.

Let there be aholistic view and not a view of Modi alone

There is currently no evidence that Mr Modi was involved. Hence, there is no need for him to resign. Did anyone from congress resign after the anti Sikh riots ?? The media eats out of the hands of congress and has a dislike for Mr Modi, hence one would see more coverage when he is accused. A fraction of that does not happen when the Anti Sikh riots eyewitnesses accuse Jagdish Tytler and Sajjan Kumar.

No.

We should follow the norms of law and justice. Until evidence is found that proves Modi had a hand in the riots following the Godhra incident , till then he should be presumed innocent.

Added to this is the fact that he has been a good chief minister for the state.

Normally , people in power are supposed to step down till the investigation into a case is over , because otherwise , they may prevent the investigating team from carrying on their investigation fairly. Here , that is not the case. Hence Modi need not step down.

Narendra Modi is a gr8 leader who is working for Gujarat and it's people without any personal interest,

His ideas are Innovative...which other state in India has thought of building RIVER FRONT project ? - Sabarmati Riverfront project in Ahmedabad has been started with prime objective of environmental improvement and provision of housing for the poor who living in life threatening conditions along river bed. More details on below link -

The work in progress is amazing and in 2 years the city will have a different look...

Best development is 3 lane roads in all over Gujarat ...Infrastructure is one thing that has improved by miles...

Godhara is just another such incident inflaming communal tensions and the state government has to be questioned, involvement or not. When we are still to touch Sajjan Kumar, HKL Bhagat, Mulayam, Laloo, Mayawati and likes so far with their involvement almost proven in their acts at certain stage of their political career, why are we targetting Narendra Modi? Not that I'm a BJP / Modi supporter but I'm almos sure that's the way things happen here. It shall take decades for SIT to complete the report, and by the time that happens another committee shall be formed and so on.

To sum aforesaid. If GUJRATIS are willing to put faith in him and to have him as state CM, what possibly can SC / SIT / other parties do? Dethrone him - NO WAY!!!

I do not wish to comment on whether Narendra Modi was responsible or not for the riots.

What I wish to say is that if he is in power, that is by the choice of the people of Gujarat.

Who are we to decide on what wrongs others have committed ?

We need to look within ourselves and see.

Whether it is Mayavati or Lalu,  Jayalalitha or  Modi : they have got whatever they have, by their karma (destiny).

Why should we be envious ?

Most of the persons who rise to power in this world do so by seemingly immoral means. Nobody who is  pure can ever gain power in the world.

That is the way this world is designed. We should see the brighter side of the people and things.

Modi is definitely a greater leader than many leaders who are central ministers.

Instead of becoming sentimental : let us accept Modi just as we tolerated Indira Gandhi despite her support for Sikh fundamentalism (which finally claimed her life).

We also accepted and adore a  Nehru who pushed India's defense to the rock bottom.

We have roads in the national capital that are named such tyrant Kings as Aurangazeb.

So let us tolerate Modi at least for his developmental work.

I dont mind you rating me thumbs down but my argument is not at all favouring anyone its a very diplomatic argument tha we should not grow hatred among each other. I would request Mr . Himanshu Pathak to kindly close or ban this argument as soon as possible. Guys lets focus on the progress and not what u left in past. Its the sign of poor vision we are having for our future. And this medium of toostep is for awareness and spreading of healthy and intellectual knowledge and not the one for spreading hatred.

I think this debate is rather getting communal then being a fair debate. If you can see the 2 people who wants him to get dethroned in this debate are saying due to communal hatred and others defeneding them on the other side is because they favour that community so in all I think this debate should be stopped right now so that we dont spread communal hatred on this intellectual platform of toostep.

Ok ,Narender Modi did not burn the innocent pilgrims at Godhra.

So blaming a true nationalist like Narender Modi for the Godhra incident is none of anybody`s business.     He is also an able administrator and prudent in giving the right Medicine where required(unlike some of the Nicer Gentlemen who cannot even defend the country by punishing those who attack the Indian Parliament for fear of losing Votes).                                                                                                                                     That he is magnet for development and industry is acknowledged by even those who despise him(like u Mr Pathak...nice topic u selected!).Last but not the least he is untouched by corruption, double standards,    or the kind of person who will tolerate any kind of Nonsense.India needs a person like him to be the Prime Minister.Jai Bharat.

Narendra Modi has only one bad habit- His communal feelings. Other than this, he is a good chief minister in every manner. He did all possible things to develop Gujrat. Gujrat's development is a clear cut proof of this. So, I don't think only for one reason he should be dethroned from CM's position.
