- I too believe that the NR-I's should be given right to vote because as we know that the number the NR-I's have is very less as compared to the our population. so their will be not much effect on result.......but their will be lot in other respect......firstly if the voting by them will be in good percentage than it will certainly be lesson to our people who don't take voting as their responsibility and celebrate as a holiday.....another it will make the NR-I's to take active part in other fields too which will be beneficial for Indian economy....so seeing no loss but beneficial in all respect they should be allowed....

yes, because its the fundamental right of any indian NRI or resident, it is the duty of administrators to make it possible for him to vote where ever he may be, they may not be more in number but they can bring in new thougts, they will probably cahnge the way a politician looks at the crowd, believe me the number is going to increase in future

if they feel for India, keep themselves updated about the country and feel that their vote will change things for better, then why not. aren't they better then our resident non- indian - Indians who live in India & crib about our system, do not feel the need to participate in any process. what needs to be seen is how wud NRIs influence govts., once they acquire right to vote.

Well there is always a slip between cup and the lip. And that is what the Indian govt is doing by raising the very old topic of NRI voting (Coz this was the arrangement since 1952). Unless the Indian govt brings a change into the process of voting, No NRI vote will ever be counted. The process so far for NRI’s to vote is that during the time of elections the interested NRI has to be physically present in the respected constituency, He /She belongs to or may have any ancestral property rights. Thus the process is so far null & void as it’s not very feasible. Jai Hind!

This is a tricky question. Its got the potential for both 'Yes' , and 'No'.But I am optimistic that the voting will be fair and sucessful.Atleast a ray of hope that NRi's will add to the effort of getting good, honest Politicians in power. To achieve a fair voting online by NRI's we need to develop system of privacy...In India we all know even if a person is physically present he/she cannot vote(sometimes) as their vote is already casted,by fake person. Now online voting with our corrupt politicians having so much of black money can easily be used for fake voting.India needs to develop the so called unique identification code for each and every Indian(local or NRI's) to prevent this unfair practice(but that too to my view is not possible..as money can buy anything...smart and intellectual IT brains can easily be hired by politicians on the basis of "sam, daam, dund bhed"and crack into the private and secured unique identification code of the NRI's through government records.......its difficult even to think how to cater this political system and the policitians. Out of frame thinking ...does India need a Dictator? or President's rule for next 5-10 yrs?

How many Indians vote in elections??? what's their demographic status??? By what means they get influenced??? There are several questions like this. At present we all know how many people turned up to caste vote in recently happened elections, it was noted that working class, educated people, people following in SEC-A,B,C segment were very low compare to the other section of the society. People who use their brains are not turning up to caste vote, where as if NRI are included, we would be sure about the people who are going to vote are not directly under the influenced of our "politicians".

Yes, i feel this right should be given to an NRI. NRI is also an Indian by birth. However, due to his comments he may not be in India but always an Indian. And i feel by passing this, an NRI would feel more at his place and be honored even being away from India. This will more encourage an NRI to get back to India and feel much respected. ...Thank you, Manish N Cheers!!

This should be on low priority or when we have reached a very high state of efficiency, transparency and required reforms in the Electoral System. On priority now should be "how to make the process of casting votes for Police Force, Paramilitary and Military, Election Staff (which is in lacs) etc. more easy and encouraging. People say these groups are most neglected by Politiciance as there are very little chances that these people will vote. This is because the current process of casting votes for them is very tedious as they dont come to the polling booth (as they are on Election Duty OR are maintaining Law and Order OR are safeguarding our Borders), but have to fill some forms and submit.
