As we go to watch a movie we already spend too much on tickets. Then there is an urge to buy pop-corn and coke and a lot more.. All this costs higher than what it has to ( I have never understood why )... Why can't we just take something from home or some shop instead there?? Is there any law which restricts this?? I am clueless.. But I know one thing if I was allowed to take something from outside it would be cheaper than what it is now.. Do you think the same?? Should out-side food be allowed in multiplexes?

My answer is in my question.. I agree that food from outside should be allowed in the multi-plexes.. It would be more cost efficient for common public.

Hi to everyone, OK I take a view on General effects of allowing the food from outside.. Multiplexes have to allow begs & others stuffs. who will watch that you all are consuming at the same time as no one can stop you to take your stuff during movie. LAST but not the least, WHAT ABOUT hygiene & clean environment and Canteen tenders ??

High operating cost and overheads are forcing these multiplexes to disallow outside food! They also view that those who visit them have larger propensity to consume, why not allow them to spend to regulate money flow?

It should be. In order to make extra money they sell their products more than at the double cost as compared to outside so one must bring food items from outside.

Obviously allow, people are coming for entertainment in multiplex or theatre. But if any problem regarding miss part of film due to the crowd, it should manage or organize accordingly. But food should allow.

The price difference of the outside food & food available in the multiplexes is almost double. More over there are many people who do not eat outside food. The prices of food available in multiplexes should be made reasonable. Prepacked food/beverages cannot be sold more than their MRP.

Yes. The food prices in the multiplexes are on a higher side. If outside food is allowed it will save some money for people and will give competition to food stalls in the multiplexes making them think to revise their prices. However the garbage should be disposed properly.

I support your views, as it also serve one purpose that you will not miss any part

of movie due to time required to purchase the food items & cold-drinks, @ the

time of interval.

Though it is easy to say yes from the consumers point of view ! Look at it from the business point of view. Multiplexes today have revolutionised the way you see movies. They have invested in technology and introduced a lot of comfort in terms of seating, ambience etc.not to forget the show timings which are very convenient nowadays. As santosh says. cleanliness and hygiene is yet another investment. You are not greeted with chips packets and chewing gum stuck to your seat or a rat running under your feet in multiplexes. So you are indeed paying a bit more for the comforts and the amenities. Remember the earlier days theatre where the screen would go blank suddenly or the AC would be switched off or you would find a soft drink bottle under your legs or a broken arm in your seat etc. ! compare that to the viewing pleasure in the multiplex today and you will understang why you need to pay a bit extra. Also i havent understood the fad of eating popcorn and sipping a soft drink while watching a movie. Why not eat your hearts fill outside before you drop in for a movie ? That way if the food stalls inside do not generate sales - then they will be forced to revise their prices automatically. Having said all this i do favour a govt. ordinance that decrees all multiplex owners to have a fixed 10% increase to the prices outside and not more.

that was our past when we were used to go for price first & had no worry for hygiene & cleanliness but not now as Indian consumers mature and take care of hygiene & other things too.

High cost is concern, compare the cost to other hygienic places not our home made food cost and at other end, it can be solved by having a affordable price & categorized food so where is point of allowing or not allowing the out side food

Consideration is up-keeping the Hygiene & Sanitation part.( Keeping the hall clean for the next show).

May be, smaller business is to grow on bigger one.(Canteen under cinema hall etc.)

Guys may not be bothered on spending more , just , for the sake of entertainment & fun.

Entertainment act may be permitting them to run contractor stall only ( I am not sure).

To make cinema hall different from home & feel that they are entertained nicely (service orientation etc).

Recreation is given prime consideration on such thing.
