Yes they should be banned! No question about that. The way people use and throw them around, i find around 60-70% of the garbage on the roadside to be plastic bags. If you travel by train, all the countryside is littered with them. Plastic bags could be one of the biggest threat to the plant earth in the future.Especially the coloured the polymer bags.Because the colours used in them are toxic. Also plastic is not biodegradable.Plastic should be replaced with paper or wooden bags. Therefore, recycling of plastic and using them for other purposes like laying roads, etc.should be implemented and also the plastic bags usage should be minimised for packing.

Should plastic bags and bottels be totally banned? NO But YES we should make it mandatory for all to switch to a degradable or recyclable plastic, till an alternative can be found.

yes they should be banned with no time extension.25 years back paper bags were being used and customer use to carry their carry bags to bring in the buy.The after effects of these plastic bags have started showing and when we look in to its long term results they are horrifying

Plastic should be banned and why should not?  As the product itself non-bio-degradable and with associated colors it has got a devastating effect on the ecosystem. Plastic have been found to block the natural flow of water, air and wind. It has been found blocking the guts in animals, which are after food packed in plastic  suffocating them to death. Light weight and the cheap rate of the product has lead to the over use of the product. Hence once banned people will have the knowledge of recycling the material or reusing the  same. This  will put a brake on the flow of plastic into ecology.

Because it is not recyclable & it affects the total environment when it was burned.Better try to use natural thing instead of Artificial matter.

yes yes and yes their is no option rather than banning because we people are not aware of what this plastic waste can do. I am agree with bindu mam but then also for the sake of our environment we have to ban it.

Without finding alternatives to pack our pharmaceutical products like saline, et al, we shouldn't take a call on this under emotional influence.

Technology for biodegradable practices are available, except that those big corporates which promote plastics in a big way do not invest in developing alternatives, as this industry is linked to the crude-refining activity and that is a Zillion Dollar Buisness, world-wide, with almost all Governments & Mega-Conglomerate TNCs, across the globe, having big-stakes.

Plastic Bag is a general term, I think total ban on Plastic Bag is not feasible considering the benefits associated with it. However, judicious use of Plastic Bag is a must. Using Paper, needs cutting Woods and processing pulp for Paper is a very Hazardous Industry as well. Just blindly following something will lead us nowhere. Re-cycling of Plastic can be carried out for more useful purposes and hence, instead of killing a Industry, for another, which again is not a fool proof techology, it is better to focus on better use of resources.

Plastic bags are very versatile materials. Instead of banning them the authorities should take steps for proper disposal & recycling, apart from creating awareness among people about usage of plastics

In my opinion there is no need of total banning of plastic bags and bottles. These utility items should not banned. But because of throw away culture and no objection from passer by, the advise on sensible disposal of plastic bags are not heeded by general public forcing the government to consider banning of plastic bags all together. The country must take a serious view of the issue and have a uniform nation-wide law for indiscreet disposals of plastic bags. People should be educated on the proper ways of plastic bag usage and the disposal. The teaching should start right from the primary schools.
