I particularly like your point of linking rivers. Okay, Ajay, let me take you up on this. First of all - before you can rectify all these things, you have to ABOLISH COMPOUND INTEREST. You may call me mad but COMPOUND INTEREST IS A FINANCIAL CRIME perpetrated on the common people by bankers/financiers. This crime of compound interest is committed by all - from little "mohalla" i.e. street financiers right upto the pan-global banks. As if that is not enough, these guys calculate this interest periodically! This means that every time there is a calculation, your debt will increase. Most street financiers do NOT allow you to pay off the principal before the loan period because they claim that they will "lose" money. I've personally seen many common people, such as unskilled labor and semi-skilled labor, fall prey to this SIMULATED/IMAGINARY DEBT. It is this type of imaginary debt that puts an economy into inflation. Just think about it. Why should interest rates vary? Shouldn't there be something like a fair & fixed percentage? That too only Simple Interest should be charged. Ok, you might say that the demand should decide why should there be regulation? In that case, won't it be excellent if there was NO regulation at all? After all, we should let demand decide, isn't it? Can you imagine what the situation would be in one year if you allow all bankers and businesses to charge what they like as and when they like. Oh, would you like a concrete example maybe? What if there was no MRP on any product? All agencies will try to fool as many people as possible saying that if the customer doesn't want to take it, let him not. After some time, I'm pretty sure riots are going to break out and most of the financial community will have to run for their lives - literally. Hey that makes me think that it may be very scary and hard on the country but maybe the end result - DEATH OF THE FINANCIAL INDUSTRY - would be great.

Man I came to know a striking fact from one of my friend and hardcore baba supporter. The psychodrama of fasting and the food schedule :- Morning 4:30 AM 100ml honey with 500ml milk. then puppetry (Yoga) After the drama at 7:30:- Extra sweetened Lemon Water 350ml After every two hours lemon water 350-500ml according to needs. Evening 6:30 150ml honey with 500ml milk. Night 8:30 150ml honey with 500ml milk. Wow! man what a fasting that was. His health deteriorated because of unhealthy eating not because of not eating. My India is indeed Great God Bless India.

I think the last night high-handedness was ordered by people who have large sum of money stacked in foreign countries. As for the word common man there is no such class as constitution does not provision anyone to be thus termed. Baba Ramdev or Anna Hazare’s decision to go on hunger strike apparently says how difficult is going to be the fight against corruption. If influential people have found no other option than to sit on hunger strike just think what a common man can do if he faces corruption. I wish people like them should definitely enter politics at least at local levels. If the government would not listen to their citizens, if the big IAS officers and Oxford pass outs are unable to eliminate corruption the social activists have taken up the job and they have not chosen any violent methods they have chosen a path which Mahatama Gandhi followed. Honest and intellectual people who want a corruption free environment would only criticize from outside as they are busy in their own life problems and career if they had taken part in active politics then may be the scenario have been different. Out of 120 crore only 1 crore is supposed to actively participate in Baba’s movement. The remaining 119 crores still want to fight it individually which they have been doing unsuccessfully since last 50 years and what is the result of it? Now the choice is ours either we fight individually or fight in a group. Atleast the government has started listening now.

Yes All forms of strikes are to be avoided. Strikes do not take us any where except creating more problems and destructing Nations Capital. But How will you make people understand the situation. People dont raise their voice so much when political parties for their own gains organise strikes, rallies and bundhs. Because they they think they will gain some thing material from those strikes. We are all selfish. Probably you may not get anything out of Anna Hazare's or Baba Ramdev's Strikes except people get educated and slowly wake up. BJP Thinks only way to bring Ram Rajya in this country is to Build Temples for Rama in Ayodhya and its branches every where, Start performing Pooja and Yjna in Parliment and Assemblies, Bring Venkateshwara to every city and Village in the country. Think How many man days are lost in this country because of Hindu rituals, festivals and in Temples? You only talk about loss of Mandays in Rallies and Bundhs and the problem it will create for people and not problem created by our rituals, customs and festivals? We need more Anna Hazare's and Ramdevs today than temples. Witheout leaders our people wont come out and fight for right causes. So my request is to support all such people. My opinion is YES. Anna Hazare had agitated for a specific measure , the Lokpal Bill , which he and others thought was the solution to eliminate corruption in this country. This was a short-sighted attempt , since it assumed that their ideas were the only correct ideas. Baba Ramdev is not suggesting any specific solution to the problem ; all that he is agitating for is that our government , which is the responsible agency , should put its mind to resolving one specific issue viz. the accumulation of black money in Swiss banks. Solving this one issue will be the country's greatest achievement since Independence. If the government can find the will to get this money back , or at the least , identify the offenders who have stashed their ill-gotten wealth in Swiss banks , it will have a tremendous impact in our fight against corruption.

I vote for this side. Anna Hazare made platform to fight against corruption. But, Govt. is reluctant to respond positively and trying hard to derail the cause. I think Anna Hazare did n doing the great job but the pace of change is quite slow,govt people always take diplomatic root. In the mean time there a need of another force to push it and creating a fear in their minds,if peoples interest not protected they cant breath easily. As we have talked too much about the black money,govt & supreme court has also shown concern but still no concrete action has been taken. BUT don't expect any landslide victory. An opinion poll conducted a few weeks back shows a hung parliament. BJP simply does not have a good leader. If they bring in a young,clean, candidate for PM, who can "think" clearly , then definitely they have a very good chance, else,it will be a hung parliament or a majority of 10 seats which means 'elections again'.

This is heartless government. They dont care wheather Anna is going on hunger strike or Baba Ramdev is going on hunger strike. They may again show their power aginst anna or Ramdev as they did in Ramlila Medan. Only way to fight with them use your power in democracy. That is your vote. Wait till next election come and vote against them. Otherwise we can do like Egypt, Libia.....

Hey Mr. Sandip Gupta, Baba Ramdev may be an expert in Yoga & Indian spirituality. Govt. granted all the respect he deserve for but, he neglected all the avenues opened to him . It is that he failed to understand the global functioning. We live not only as Indian but also, a member of global community. He ,as a leader of Yoga & also a responsible, citizen, was given a chance to express his grievance to the Govt & ample scope to think and consider the prevailing conditions. Govt gave air, almost, all of his appeal & asked him to give up the fast for which he was adamant for the reason that he knows. If he is wise & really interested in the peoples prosprity, he might have given up the fast but , for political reason I think he continued it. So ,he needs to face the consequence as the Govt.

Very true Mr. Kaliamoorthy, In a Central Govt. unit in 80's, I had to get the computers delivered in mid-night and commission the system and network before morning to overcome obstruction of union workers. True. Managing the need of billion and odd people is difficult. But an impotent government is better than anarchy. The main problem is the governments here are bogged up in dirty politics and various non-productive issues and do not have time or commitment to concentrate on governance. The Ministers and Department heads never bother to neither study the issues themselves not to make the bureaucrats do their job well. Telecom muddle is typical example. An average Telecom technician knows that selling out of spectrum to private companies is wrong. I wrote about this in detail as early as 2004 to all those concerned in DOT, TRAI to Media guys. Who cares? You can read about these and many other contemporary issues in my article "The Bitter Pills for India Reprieve" in this website Toosteps.com Hardly few have read it and reacted with their views and comments.

Anna Hazare, Baba Ramdevand some more will join as they find the going good. Where are we heading with all this. In all these? Don't we smell the possibility of some sort of conspiracy somewhere. Learning from the outcome of uprising in Egypt, and many ongoing ones in other regions, some group or section here who find it difficult to come back power with normal democratic means, think that a major change in the current constitutional form of democracy could also be realized here by causing an uprising, using some utopian populist slogans and playing on the mass psyche to destabilize the existing government and force it out for them to come to power. Think for a moment how big should be the set up of the proposed Lokpal if corruption cases from Peon to President to be handled by it. Setting up of a non-constitutional body in the name of Lokpal is unworkable if not nonsense. What about corruption in corporates and private companies. There are enough safeguards in the constitution. The difficulty is that these are not effectively implemented with inherent difficulties in democratic way of governance like ours. This need to be addressed and rectified but not by making another impractical body just by giving it higher powers of Prime Minister and President of India. My considered view is that the issue could be addressed by inception of more IT into the governance system like super computers that can oversee the functions of each personnel in in departments, ministries, and even functioning of private corporates and industries. A super computer properly programmed and managed can replace the entire courts and judges and deal with more cases faster and without ambiguity. We need to look forward in those lines; not by heeding to yogis and satyagrahis. If this is allowed in this way and continue to hype up mass psyche, without logic or reasoning, the consequence will be severe and catastrophic and soon will go out of the hands of those who initiated it. Govt. need to convene a meeting of all CMs and put their foot down quickly.

This will develop a crack in the civil society! Baba Ramdev should support Anna Hazare now to get the JanLokpal bill passed in the parliament. He should parallely enter into dialogue with the Finance Minister and the PM, separately, on the issues of bringing back the stashed black money in foreign banks. This process will take years. Even if they brought the money back, may be before the next general election, then Congress will stake claim for this humongous effort and will play vote bank politics to garner votes in this pretext!
