Referral is one of the most dangerous tool used by organizations and hiring agencies to reject a candidate merely on the ground of insufficient reference. In my view there are very few real, true and noteworthy professionals who understand the manifestation of human endeavors and are willing to take the pain to reply in an unbiased manner. Rest is all artificial as no one in this planet will ever make a blunder to disclose the name of the boss/s who were not in good terms due to any damn reason whatsoever. "DEPENDING ON THE PREVIOUS EMPLOYER'S EXPERIENCE IS A BIASED ACTION IN ITSELF" Why people opt for change otherwise? These are the reasons to best of my experience and knowledge that HR Professionals must admit as the ground reality. 1) Dull career prospect and blocked 2)Improper compensation 3)Improper work distribution (those who don’t work enjoy the art of living and those who really work hard enjoy the burden of depression and suppression) 4)Conscience not ready to agree with the forces playing hard to adopt bad practices 5)Biased recognition

There is no need for bias here, the referrals are getting a head start when there is recruitment is mainly because, they know about that candidate personally and there is nothing called as unknown entity with them, that's why many times we see internal recruitment of many of the positions hiring happens through these referral basis, its just that organizations want people whom they can easily trust which is given by other employees by the means of this referral basis...

referrals are limiting the choice for recruitment, eventhough the referrals are by known persons.  The choice is wider if referrals are not depended on.  The possibility of getting better qualified and more experienced candidates is available in the open market than in the referral market

basically bring in another known person from inner staff can be little bit an adventure and more professionalism will not be introduced and many could made to hide from the management critical or non-critical. group ism may develop and real picture may not emerge in case of problem areas.

A CANDIDATE GETTING AN OPPORTUNITY THRO REFERENCE WILL BE PREFERRED BY ANY EMPLOYER AS THE RISK IS LIMITED.

Perfectly OK argument. Referrals are the best methods for recruitment. I agree.

It does not matter even if we say that recruitment  should be without bias or not.we have no choice but to go with the flow, and moreover even if these things are happening around us /in our companies we doesn't object. So i am agree with diya completely.

I AGREE WITH YOU, DIYA.

AS WE ALL KNOW ,'KNOWN DEVIL IS ALWAYS BETTER THAN UNKNOWN ANGEL.'

AS YOU SAID ABOUT TRUST WHICH IS IMPORTANT ALSO THE TIME -FRAME

REQUIRED FOR RECRUITMENT IS SHORTENED.& WE ALWAYS GIVE REFERENCES

FOR OUR CLOSED ONES .

& ALSO WE HAVE AN OPTION TO JUDGE THE CANDIDATE AT THE TIME OF

INTERVIEW.

In addition to requisite qualification;and experience, the referral is always successful, earlier the recruitments were based on 2 referrals for good character and conduct other than relative.
