CD controversy has gone messier as the Govt has declared that it was not doctored. In such a situation is it best for Mr. Shanti Bhushan to resign?

Yes. There is no dearth of talent in the country. We can always find a replacement; a person who is not controversal, understands law and can draft a bill. There are 9 others in the drafting committee. One also should be capable of working in a team and lead his associates. On one hand we have a dedicated person like Anna and on the other a Lawyer who takes a heavy fee for legal advice. What a combination? If there are such diversities between people in the drafting commitee how can we be sure that the draft bill will be in the interests of the common man.

It is better to keep such vital issues above controversy.

This morning's newspaper reports the following :

The Bhushans have purchased 7818 sq. metres of land , valuing it at 6.67 lakhs ! This works out to less than Rs. 100 per sq. metre ! Is there any place in our country which will be so cheap ?

The government authorities , on the other hand , are putting the value of the land at Rs. 24,000 per sq. metre , which means the total value is nearly Rs. 20 crores !

Is this the kind of person we want on an anti-corruption panel ?

Yes he should have resigned and prove innocence instead going through all the rigmarole of other members of the committee coming out in his defence.

No, he should not resign, as it a game plan of some political leader to spilt the commitee. Thanks for referral, Shalini.

No. Not at all. They are only part of Drafting the Bill. Those who are going to pass this Bill, almost 28% of them are with tainted records! Can we do something about them? This draft committee's tenure is coming to a close on 30th June, 2011. Their role is going to be embellishing the clauses as per people's recommendations and on their collective wisdom of the Committee Members. Let them come out with the draft, then take them to task. Try them, if they have done any wrong later, as per regular procedure.

Mr. Pradeep - While i agree that there is no dearth for talented people but i ask where on Earth were all those people for the past 42 years. Any one could have taken the initiative in this matter but everyone were too busy for that. Lets atleast appreciate the efforts of whether it is Annaji or the Bhushans. Atleast they had the courage to standup against the odds while everyone else were either being a part of corruption by doing it or by keeping quiet. Theres no guarantee that the new members would be spared from the Congress mudslinging tactics. The crimes committed by their politicians is in any comparison far greater than a mere fabricated CD or a land purchase at a less cost or a tax evasion.
