Namrata, Agree, narrow self-interests and irrational thought processes prevent differentiation of right from wrong, even where there may be no two thoughts about. Yet this can change with spread of positive thought processes in social participation.

Yes Namrata It will to some extent. Like stop using the items made of animal skins and makeup kits to condemn the cruelty against the animals. Stop using the baby feeds over mother's feed & so called baby soaps & oils which contains more chemicals & liquid paraffin passed as special products with false propaganda & misleading advertisements will help in curb the bad practice of Manufacturers & bring responsibility & value to the customers on their products, apart from customer awareness & fear of Law.

Let's believe the whole world is not corrupt. a small percentage of people are corrupt and who become rich too. Hence i suport Mr Parasuram Iyer of his view point. These days the corrupt practices of services and products come out fast through social network and many good people publish it so that others do not use it to waste their money. Hence boycotting will bring in a tremendous impact of erring companies. These days companies are also looking for social networking for their for their marketing efforts. Hence many experience people who believe that if a service or a product is not goo they should boycott through social network which is an effective tool for benefiting many. There are good corporates as well who undo their wrongs like the Honda city which asked for return of their million cars for replacement of a product just because it was not up to the standards. The most important of all is the adulteration of food stuffs, the substandard materials supplied for construction and many others in the list. Many look for ward for cues from social networking comments and go for it.the decision is with the comments of social networking sites. regards

There is nothing better than this.Remember Gandhiji's call for boycott brought down the mighty British empire of the time. Our country's track record to bring corrupt corporates or politicians or individuals to book is to say the least pathetic. The best deterrant would be to boycott the products and services. Whether you like it or not, nothing hits more than economic sanctions. The process will yield results but we got to keep pushing at it, because it is an uphill task to take on the high and mighty either corporates or individuals who subvert the system.

We have seen series of hurdles/delays in framing charges against the corrupt legislatures, corporates and other biggies. People need to understand the corrupt base of the organization. In parallel, should wise people do a social proactive boycott of products/services manufactured/catered by tainted companies? Till the investigations are on society must stop buying from such companies. This also will put pressure on corporates to resolve the cases as early as possible, if they want to prove they are clean. Also corporates may start to behave & establish a good governance & make clean businesses. If sales starts falling then there will be a second thought before doing/feeding corruption.

Its theoretically very good, but practically its near to impossible. Except someone give a call, we dont feel it even. If we really believe in this, we could control the prices of any commodity. We have the power. We expect someone to do this on our behalf. I do feel this. But........ When the prices of onions went upto Rs. 60 a Kilo, people would have opted for not to buy onion. Cant they do it. Yes they can. Its not rice or wheat or some other ingredient without which we cant live. They stand in queues and purchased onions.

THE REASON FOR THIS OUT CRY IS LARGELY DUE TO POOR IDEA ABOUT CONSUMER RIGHT.THIS CONSUMER RIGHT HAS NOT BEEN WIDE SPREAD. THOUGH WE HAVE CONSUMER FORUM IT HAS TO REACH THE VERY COMMON PEOPLE. SO THAT SOME THING GOOD CAN EMERGE.

Thanks for referral Namrata. Look this is the question of one's own values and how any individual percieve the things. This will again throw up the question of morality. Which can not be taught and can only be inculcated through persistent teachings and persuasions. So we can expect good outcome but we have to be prepared for the worst. rest is all yours.

Thanx for the referral, Namrata. I agree with you. The problems that we see are because - in general - we have the tendency to accept a lot mainly because we are selfish. We just want to get our work done/survive. So, we pay for this accepting nature - ultimately it means that things get costlier and costlier but we just want to get our work done so we accept it.

Namrata I agree with you partially. I think it will take time may be another 50 years but corruption will be done away with and then you see the speed with which India runs on. At the same time India should be able to control population and should able to provide social security to all the Indian citizens.

Though it sounds good but i feel its not feasible practically. People are not so aware about their rights and about consumer protection. The one who suffers from it may file a complain against the manufacturer but to pressurise corporates we need to have a good number of people ready to fight for their rights. Remember that in India everyone hates corruption but it was Anna Hazare or Baba Ramdev or gentleman like them who raised their voice for such a big issue in our society. Its good being optimistic but i dont see it practically feasible.
