We need politicians & great leaders who really care about the welfare of peoples. In all corporate we have vision, mission and clear road map for future development. customer point of view and client delight are the two eyes for each employees of corporate and they are working towards that....similarly all the politicians (employee)including PM (MD) should think from peoples (customer ) point of view and derive a clear vision , mission and road map to develop social & indivigual economic status of peoples. This is the time we really need inspiring leaders with unselfish quality and the ability & talent to turn around the present situation. we have more than 100 crore multi talented peoples and we need a great leader to set up a big goal & direct them to achieve it. doesnt matter the age as the difference is just 4 years in the given topic..As you all know Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg is youngster ..and my point of view we need politician with clear vision that is.. should think always for the welfare of peoples..and do things in people's point of view not in the party's point of view...I believe the team youngsters can do that ..actually in the given topic the age difference is just 4 and it wont do any difference.

In today's modern age when kids are exposed to technology and techniques way younger than what the generation X or earlier generations were up to, 21 is the ideal age to put the deserving candidates on the podium. The newbies are energetic, go-getters and want to do the undone. The only thing to be ensured is to provide them step to step guidance by the able veterans, as politics after all, is a dirty game to be in. The minuteness-es of politics need to be taught to them to remain long in the game for betterment of the country.

@Makarand, I appreciate your view regarding personal integrity & thats why I have suggested the candidates from very reputed institutes like TISS (where selection of candidates can't be questioned) & where they are nurtured & prepared for related issues. Yes I like your public grilling suggestion & I think time to time it should be done as their vocational training. @Priya, I have suggested only some such politicians & not all, there should be a mix. Secondly as Makrand suggested age should be no bar to prove their competency. If teens are doing wonders & there are known many great people in business & social life who have achieved a lot till this age then well groomed scholars if being given exposure (as some of even biggest MNC,s pick the whole fresh bunch from institutes like IIT) , can aptly handle ministries in their 2nd term. Question is again, are we going to vote them then or again choose Mrs Koda instead of Mr?

It's a good idea for the following reasons: 1) The person will have less experience. Our country is suffering because the MPs and MLAs are experienced smart-alecs who can hoodwink the public with speeches. It makes more sense if we have babes-in-the-woods leading us instead of wolf packs, since it'll be easier to nab the guilty. 2) The person is likely to be unmarried. This means that the person is less likely to be tempted for laundering money for the spouse and children. 3) The person is younger, with little work exp and more energetic and can therefore work better and relate better with the public where a large percentage of the public is also young, energetic and with either little work exp, or searching for work.

In this time, where new things are evolving constantly & in very short intervals, where innovation is the main key & where teens are becoming entrepreneurs & CEOs, I think its not that bad proposal. We have seen enough of experienced people who (mostly) even doesn't know like what is carbon trading or whats the latest buzz or even how painful for a poor is to live in such inflationary pressures . Rather having an exposure & learning of such 'complex' politics there can be some graduates from institutes like TISS in our parliament where they can serve some of the most needed fresh ideas before the nation regarding some burning issues.

Never, in fact it should be raised to at least 30yrs. In fact the hounourable chief justice was correct in asking about gaining experience before entering politics. Alongwith the age limit a basic ediucation of Post graduation should be made compulsory and post graduation should be in political science from either IGNOU or some other recognised private university where a degree cannot be purchased for cash. At least then we will have some educated MLA's MP's who doesnt use the seat as a means of furthering their personal wealth. And an educated minister will ensure the country progresses rather than take it backwards by cowherds, goons or small time farmers.

POLITICIANS IN OUR COUNTRY DO NOT HAVE ANY AGE LIMIT FOR RETIREMNT.POLITICAL CAREER NORMALLY CONTINUES FOR EVER, IRRESPECTIVE AGE.SO WHY NOT START THE STARTING AGE BE HIGHER? AND IN A HOUSE DOMINATED BY PEOPLE IN SIXTIES,SEVENTIES & EIGHTIES,PEOPLE IN THEIR EARLY TWENTIES WILL FIND IT DIFFICULT TO ADJUST,AND PULL ON.

No Himanshu. Reducing the age limit to be an MP or MLA really would not make much sense as we still would be ruled by aged politicians as today. An attempt to bring in fesh & young bolld into politics is a long shot. Instead, we should seriously look at fixing an age limit for an elected member to retire from active politics. This would probably ensure youngsters to participate with a hope of becoming an MP or MLA before they retire, besides making us free of seeing those aged politicians.

Thanks for referring Mr.Malladi madhukumar. yes you are right and I will support your idea. The age is too premature to have political experience, desire to serve the people, and knowing how to get along with other politicians. Not only this but also understanding the different culture of different people.

Rather we should restrict the number of times one becomes MLA or MP give way to fresh ideas and youngsters.

Ujjval, I disagree. politicians need to be good administrators not specialist. if we can get a combination of both that would be a best case scenario. but that doesnot happen. even if a politician is just a metric, he shud hv the vision, will and experience to lead, pick the best brain, accomodate all. as far as age issue goes like Mr. Madhu kumar said at 21 one is too young, needs experiance..

AGE - Remove the BAR!! The criterion should be history. Police checks, Personal Audit and public grilling. If a person can survive these assaults on his background check, let the age be 21, welcome him / her with a red carpet. thats my view! :)) Thanks for the referral Himanshu.

According to me No, the age limit should not be set to 21, at 21 they are just out of college with a basic degree in their hands what sort of experience will they be having to stand in elections, I think to gain experience in the field of politics one needs time, and in India the politics is a complex thing, handling things in Indian political scenario is far more difficult than else where in the world, so with some experience one will be in the right frame of mind to contest in elections and 25 years is the right age for people to contest in MP & MLA elections.
