Best buy geek fests are the rest where one can get gadgets at the best possible price. Though there are many shops, malls and manyy schemes keep on coming on various occassions is it a good idea to have a special fest where one can buy gadgets at lowest possible price? Is it good from sellers point of view?

Do you think there should be some fest as :Best buy geek fests ?

I think there should be something like this exclusively for tech lovers if its affordable people wil definitely buy more and so it is good from sellers point of view too. During normal festivals when many discounts come and go together we have to choose one thing but if this kind of fest become exclusive then there will be no double mindedness.

It depends on which side of the table you are while answering this. IF you are the manufacturers side, it will be a strict no what with already depleting margins and profits in the Consumer electronic segment. If you are in the customer side, it will be a definite yes ! who wouldnt love a good bargain. But if you are a rationalist, it is a certain no because already malls and brand stores are offering their best buys sometimes operating on wafer thin margins. There is no point in further beating them down to the extent that quality and after sales service become big issues. Dont forget, buying a hi-tech gadget is not just a discount shopping phenomenon but rather an exercise in arriving at an informed decision, for we dont change our gadgets as frequently as we change our shirt, do we !

I love books and used to spend a lot of time visiting landmarks/crosswords but now with flipkart I prefer to shop online as it gives me the best buy. Best buy fits well with the Indian psyche. But at times I miss the experience that I would get from spending quality time at a Crossword before grabbing some books. A quick question to you - how do you think it will be different from the high discount ecom portals??

It is a good idea. It's an opportunity for the customers to get the gadgets @ reasonable price.

Thanks for referral, Ruchi.

Rightly said , Sir. Best Buy and other gadget stores in US and the likes in other countries need not necessarily be a great boon to the seller India. People in India don't buy as much gadgets as people in America. Not many have realized the ease of life with gadgets and I sure think it will take many years for an average Indian civilian to reach that situation. We really need to get people to start texting on their mobile phones. That could be a start. However, It will be a fantastic deal for gadget lovers and people in the tech business. I mean, who wouldn't wanna buy a nexus tablet for 250$ ?
