I go by Sarika Singh's view. In a democratic set up, we cant force the people to do or not do something. But, one thing is sure that we are more obsessed with the western culture, and particularly the feminine gender.

offcourse it should be celebrated but not only by the boy frnd and girl frnd but, it should be the day on which a person express his feelings to whom he admire, to whom he loves, to whom he wants to be close and wish to be like him/her. on a specific date it should be celebrated since if their is a specific date then it has a particular importance.

Sir, some believe that freedom is their own right and try to grab others. Freedom of the people is being hijacked by some section of people in this country. Look at the happenings in Andhra. One or two political parties not allowing other political party leaders into Telangana area. A situation of commotion is being created. Same is the situation with opposing celebrating Valentine's Day. Freedom is being hijacked in this country.

Yes Devi, I a completely in favour of your point. As people do not understand their limits of liberty. Democracy never means that you can do whatever you want. And, also it doesnt give you right to speak which hurts any one's prestige or self respect. The people who are giving such facts in the favour are generally hippocrate. They never like the girls dressed in extra modern way for marriage but like to see them and flirt them and roaming around with. For marriage, the girl should be pure indian stuff, either in dressing or in thinking.

Why not? When you are in a democratic, secular and sovereign society, anything should be allowed to celebrate, isn't it?

Nothing wrong in celebrating. But, do we require to celebrate these days. Fathers Day, Mothers Day, Valentines Day are the creations of western culture. They dont maintain any relationships. They need a day to get together. For that purpose we have festivals. We need not celebrate these days imported from the western world.

present scenario is not good to celebrate valentines day on 14th feb. My personal opinion or advice to all is not to celebrate V D outside, as u know some political groups/parties are in search to get benifit on that day. Celebrate dat day in ur house any other day. I THINK FOR LOVERS, EVERY DAY IS VALENTINES DAY DUDE.

Why not?? What is wrong in it? We don't need a day to show love but still if there is something of that sort it has to be accepted just like rakshabandhan is accepted. Love is sacred and humiliating someone for loving someone is ridiculous. God created men and women and he designed our body and mind. If he wanted things to be any different he might have not created the law of attraction!! But when he did it who are we to oppose the most natural feeling? I strongly feel that people who create chaos on V-day have nothing else to do and they themselves are found in hotel rooms with girls time and again.

yes, certainly it should be celebrated. when there is father's, mother's, brother's/sister's (rakshabandhan), teacher's, friend's day then whats the crib in celebrating the lover's day.

Pradeep, Sorry to oppose your argument but what do you mean by " but if it goes like this then our indian women will start to strip in public as like western countries., and also they might argue , the problem is not in stripping but in seeing those things"? They may have strip bars, etc where this sort of things are done but definitely not in the public. Please also note that stripping may be a job and very significant population of the world is involved in it. Are you judging all western women by a few and come on what makes you think that Indian women are going to strip in the public?.
Please note also that in a democratic country you have freedom of speech but not freedom to do whatever you like. There is something called law which every citizen should abide by.
A government runs a country but not people lives. Do the government has to tell you when to express love and in which manner?. However, it does not take away the fact that India is a very diverse country and has been adopting lots of western cultures. It's the people choice to live up to their culture.

Their should not be barred to calebrate something like Valentine day...It is a human right to celebrate something ....either it is a religious festival...or love festival...as we are considering valentine day as a love festival....like the same we are considering ganapti puja as a religious festival...no one can stop us to celebrate some festival in our contry..but there should be limitation....we need to be a open cultured but we cannot allow the open sex in open air in our country...If political party like shiv sena opposed valentine day only for the this reason then i will agree with them...howevr we can celebrate valentine day as afestival of love...no one can stop us....

I do not understand how any thing associated with love can be segreated or replusive to indian culture & ethos. India has always been a country whose culture is woven in the fabric of togetherness and love. Few pepole with vested interest are trying to impose their moral policing on every one but while doing so they forget that this is a land where Freedom of Choice and respect to women are ebeded as early as ramayana days. Sita Choose her Husband by (Suyamabar) is one such illustration. Those who are wasting their energy in opposing this day shall divert to more issues that needs redressal.

I support Sarika, let it be the game of politicians and all those but you all must have heard he who makes the law, violates it too. Celebration and allowing the same all over in few adverse conditions that comes up like mushrooms specially before 14th every year and finishes by the evening of 14th of every year. Few activists do it for fame and name and few do it because they could not get their love. Had it been with them they themselves would have made a rescue or strongly opposed the move.Revolution or new trend is opposed first and then accepted by every one. Happy VALENTINE's Day to all

The only reason Valentine Day runs contrary in Indian culture is that people do not know the story why the celebration of Valentine Day started and for whom? It was about two friends in America, out of which one was sentenced to death by govt. and the other one who really loved his friend so much that he committed suicide on this day. In his memory Valentine's Day celebration started. Now the projection of the day is totally different, but still in democracy right's of the individuals can not be hampered.

I don't understand the question of allowing Valentine Day to be celebrated. Who should allow/disallow? There's no authority which allows Diwali or Eid to be celebrated. So if people want to celebrate Valentine Day or any other day it's their free will so long as it is not against someone or something else. And obviously Valentine Day is not against anybody. So go ahead...

Well as far as I think lovers can meet anytime and they do meet besides this one date that is 14th feb.... Now if we don't have any objection in their love meets besides this day and we allow a boy and girl to meet then why should we stop them on this day? Can't they meet after 14th? ya they can .... so why to show the world that we don't allow such activities when they do happen on daily basis.........
here i remember the Dialogue of a movie where Govinda says to her girlfriend.....EVERYDAY IS A VALENTINE'S DAY; EVERY HOUR IS A VALENTINE HOUR; EVERY MINUTE IS VALENTINE MINUTE EVERY SECOND IS A VALENTINE SECOND....

Nowadays in the name of valentines day, people are going in a wrong way. This day induces the worst culture in India. Is there any need to express the love on that special day?.It can't be expressed any other days?.This is a purely humbug ,pushing teenage people into useless ones.Generally I am asking ,In India when this Valentines day was started celebrating?.In 1990, there is no these types of fraud days . First tell the people to celebrate Mother's day sincerely. That's enough.
