The present news channels are most focused o,,,,,,,,on showing/transmitting ..,,What the viewers want or just for increasing the TRP'S so that they can demand better Advertising rates .They are our only eyes and ears which can be seen by people to believe ,What they show is what public always want to see or what their competitive channels show,,,,,,,If it is stopped by regulation or fine ,,,it will be a lesson for all TV channels ,Todays TV viewers are more demanding masala news rather than the news where brings society to gather ,,,,This is a clear case for self regulation as the channels which give truthful news sooner or lateer will be affected .However in various countries the news are controlled and the items transmitted take care of the good ethics of the society ....Only a enlightened society can have a decent news which add positivity to the society ,,,,Todays news are of that quality that if u miss it ,,u will not loose much

What we see is monotonous Political programing moreover I don't watch TV at all now and when I used to never cared whether I should believe everything they narrated. If an actual event was being covered live then one has to believe live telecast. Others like Talk Shows and Interviews might be manipulated a little bit tomake it more attractive. Karan Thapar looks realistic but it might have been pre planned, now I feel since such a topic came in for discussion. I feel there is no programing for the Professionals, even on quiz programs in marketing and management they cover only history of products. What I would like to see is if the Leadership visions as to be going in the 'free market' direction then there should be more programs directing the audience to the meaning of free market. We still follow the tried and failed socialistic agendas in our programs. So it is basicaly neurosis watching all this political and business programing. So as the situation is such believing comes only when you find likable programs.

They have the audacity to beam what they think could be the truth and then in the same breath apologise for the 'mistake'! All in all they provide you with verified content all the time!

hi kavitha, news channel are there to broadcast the events around the world.pl think whether any news channel has propagated itself of presenting only true things?it cannot.and also being the end user, we cannot go and investigate each and every event for its credibility.it is not correct to ask whether to believe or not, instead, one should agree that all who are communicated will have some knowing on any subject that is broadcasted.trust is generated/sustained by feed backs/follow up's by customers only and any channel cannot inject trust of its product to anybody.

Why do you think there are so many channels out there...because most of them are providing quality news and news which is true...and media is the 4th column of the democracy...and it is not rotten...and Media has problems as every other industry has...as there is so many channels and so much competition...some channels are sensationalizing news...but even today truth is brought out by the news media people...and deliver quality content...

Then the ball lies in your court whether to believe it or not. You cannot expect them to justice to every audience. You should know how to take the cream out of milk.

-- Media, as often seen, tends to make mockery of all decessions of Govt., good or bad -- the try to project themselves the "only vanguard" for peoples' interest ( actually they work for their own 'interests' - say TRP and or legal or illegal revenues, being a hidden pressure group for a particular House ) -- their communications often remain just one way - viewers are often not allowed to express theirs ( visual media " feeds" ) -- most often they create a "Think-tank" for themselves, inviting personalities of their choices - seldom other point of view is allowed to be aired ( it is believed that these panelists remain in some kind of "pay-role" for the media ) ..... We are lucky or unlucky that most of the audiences of visual media switches between channels in evry five minutes, do not bother for views ( whose viewa ? ) and ultimately settles in soap-operas or entertainments Ultimately : dont allow anybody Govt/ Media/ Group/ Think-tank or so rule us - we, the people/ our free hinkings/ judgements are more powerful than the Media

Now a days all channels are working for the TRP and due to this sometimes they use to highlight a news of normal nature. Few unwanted issue and false news makes people not to believe the news channels. Their must be some hard rules and regulations to control all this. Even the News Channel should also come out of this TRP game and should prove their selves. News should be real news and no spice and drama is required for the news. There are so many other channels are existing for that.

There is a law of advertisement that we cannot show those things which are not true or we cannot promise those things to the consumers which we cannot give.We cannot promote anything which is not real.I believe T.V is one form of mass media of advertisement and communication where many viewers are daily watching various channels like sports, entertainment, news etc for information. But are there any authenticity nowadays to it? 1.First of all there are 100s of news channel competing with one another and everybody exaggerating the news according to their wish so that the TRP rates increase. They make the viewers believe the non sense and the way they are projecting each and every issue are really questionable. One news but no uniformity within channels. It gets variegated by the media policies and newsmakers.. 2.People watch news in order to gain insight into the problem not to get confuse but our fellow newsmakers in order to get HIGH TRP often forget that they are confusing people. 3.They forget that people are not nerds and are also conscious enough to find out the truth. Once the policy behind the newsmakers are understood then that newschannel adopts another tactics to fool the viewers. 4.More focus on political issues..and less concentration on other factors sometimes make a disgusting news. Nowadays there are more than 100 news channel but none of them are effective or trusteable...

Presently news channels are not delevering their work in proper way. To increase the TRP they publish the news in a dramatic way. Some time they also play with truth and actual NEWS. There are many reason behind it some time political pressure, Social Pressure, increasing trp for the channel etc. Its not easy to trust there news.

Even if media is so called business, the foremost purpose of their presence is to generate full-proof happenings as and when happen, without marginalising or taking sides. Moreover nowadays the presenters themselves behave which news is proper & improper and push the viewers towards their liking. The tone is high-pitched yelling, continuous interrupting the guest. Its all fracas, nothing more. people may find difficult to digest but i prefer our old doordarshan news - simple to-the-point delivery of only NEWS.

Probably nowadays its more of a business than journalism. Only TRP ratings matter. They will show all kind of non sense and make or break the news to make it spicy. So it is really becoming difficult to trust them completely. Recently saw an interview of a politician who was a hindu and poor fellow had made some comment like " Sharab peene ke baad namaz nahi padhni chahiye ". And the media reported that XYZ says " namaz nahi padhni chahiye ". It sounds hilarious but such type of journalism would take us nowhere ! However, if these guys want they can bring sea change in mentality of people and in many cases they have done it also ! Hope they get out of TRP game !

Hi Surendra, Every business has rules to follow as per Indian Govt. Same way NEWS CHANNELS should also need to follow it. They have invested million to start the company -AGREED, but that can not utilized as investors wishes. They should follow some ethics & standards at least. NEWS CHANNELS are missing many points to follow. Do you think that 26/11 attacks live reporting was appropriate? Don't you think it was more of irresponsibility towards our country & security of the many people who were stuck inside? They were even showing where all the Police, Military & Shooters are hiding & how they are planning the counter attacks, which may have guided those militants to plan better & they struggled for very long. Why every celebrity person is scared by "MEDIA"? A infant fallen in to some water well & that is a BREAKING NEWS for the 48 hrs! This is terrible, there are 1000 of important issues are waiting to address. I'm capturing a words from here "below the belts" items are getting aired & that's the truth.

Today the channels are mushrooming .it is becoming like the serials /soap opera . Most of them are not in serious business of news. They are basically interested in the unemployed percentage of society veiwing masala and below the belt programs Of the news channels few are news related in a serious way rest are mouth pieces of different political parties ,and money laundring enterprenuerrship. So if you take the hand ful of news channels you find that the news items are 40% micellaneous and time is spent on questions to reporters with fed answers ,and questions on emotional items etc just to keep the minutes ticking. The bottom line is all these channels are in business for Profit only. They care less on authenticity and ethics of proper reporting on important issues on policies, national impact etc that are to be imparted to mature veiwership. The 24 hr continous news is a real bore. the news just does not change to a great extent I feel One or two news channels dedicated gto news should be enough. there should be a regulatory body to monitor on certain parameters and disqualify channels from using the air A long shot again since Most channels = most political parties, so the setting up of regulatory body is ......herculean task !or ant good ideas?

The private news channels are owned by a corporate house that has its own business interests and make profit/get money to stay on air using the advertising which are also business interests. So corruption of the news channel is quite easy and is happenning all over the world as advertising becomes tough, people's attention is divided between the Internet and TV, targeted advertising on the mobile takes off etc.

India, with more than a billion of people, has so many issues at hand, waiting to be represented, but, rather than focussing on those issues they are putting thrust on issues that are far from reality or not of current importance. Certain news channels are becoming more of entertainment and horror channels rather than a medium of responsible journalism. These channels have altogether changed the meaning of journalism, which is a noble profession and some people (for their TRP ratings) have altogether changed its values that the word upholds.

News channels are risky these days. They show what they are not supposed to show. There is very little reality in what they telecast. The news is very manipulated. The issues that really need to be covered and addressed are ignored, but if a celebrity (from any field) has even a slightest pain in the hand or elsewhere, it is the top story of the day, week, month. High time news channels became the problem solvers rather than problem creators.....

Nowadays it's been difficult to trust the media in our country. These people are not able to keep their words even for one day. For instance, just a day before the result for the Indian parliamentary elections, all the news channels on their exit polls declared that it was difficult for UPA to form the government and could only conquer 240 seats along with their allies. On the day of the result when UPA conquered the majority the same news channels declared that their exit poll was the most accurate and they estimated it to be 270. Nopw how can we trus these news channels. Even due to excess number of news channels present in India the quality of news have also deteriorated. These channels are not able to collect the news substance and have to show the episodes of musical, dance and comic shows of the entertainment channels, moreover the news channels are so dependent on the sponsors for their revenue, that they are bound to be loyal to those brands and misconduct caused by those sponsor is ignored by the media channels and kept hidden

And Actullay now days they do not focus on relevent issues rather than focusing on Masala news.Whether it was Varun controversy or It was Sharukh Khan's KKR controversy. All the News channels was trying to make both the news more attractive to got more audiences. So i Think now days we should not need to believe on these channels.

Media is the fourth column of Indian democracy!!! But what if the fourth column is rotten? And you know what is making this rot even deeper? Sources. In the name of sources News channels are manufacturing news and in the name of sources they are hiding their face after being proved wrong. But news channels are afterall business--right? This is foolish to believe business to be the GOD. A word of caution to the country men--This is a battle going on in this world on agendas and propagandas. Lets not caught in the cross fire.
