In my view, it is wise to take war foot action by conducting trial on 4G and make necessary steps to over come problems if any and correct it before launching in India. It is definitely saves lot of investment and reduce the financial burden on Government and other private bodies who has connected. Further, unnecessary levies on public will be avoided if latest technology introduced instead of upgrading one by one, Suppose,in addition, if such implementation is not possible due to certain circumstances, manufacturer should develop the new technology instrument keeping in mind for further technology development. So in such cases changing the instrument can be avoided and thus public can stop changing the instrument as and when the technology upgraded.

I support Sonam 100% , its no point going in snail pace when the technology is already available and used in developed countries . if we face problems you should know how to overcome them rather than spend time later in migration .

If they implement 4G directly instead of 3G, it will definitely reduce burden on public for purchasing Sim and changing the appropriate mobile. Also it saves lot of money b ypurchasing new hand set selling the old one on through away price. Generally, every one can not afford money by frequent change. Thus company should understand the public difficulties and they should monitor to see that the connected hand set should available before release of latest technology in mobile world.

I think we should go for 4G rather then 3G ,i think we have missed the bus when it comes to 3G ,with 4G we can leapfrog into the league of the elite few who are just launchin 4G....As per technical goes if it can be done in US then it sure as hell can be done here...because usually similar telecom companies will do the infrastructure

The global addressable market for LTE is basically all wireless service providers because LTE is the clear evolution of wireless networks. LTE technology is focusing on the advanced market with high penetration of mobile subscribers worldwide, like Europe, North America, and a part of Asia. The great thing about LTE is that it is a common technology in the mobile broadband space-common evolution to GSM, 3G, CDMA, TD-SCDMA operators.

I think we will make mistake if we directly implement 4G before 3G, because only 2 to 3 operator's network is ready for 3G which should supposed to be ready in 2008. & now it's 2010. Also govt. body is taking time to final it's 3G deal with the operators which was postponed for 3/4 times in the past. Also customers are just experiencing the magic/benefits of 3G network. So it is hurry for them to take experience of 4G before 3G. & also it will take min.1to 2 years for the operators to get ready for 4G.

Telcom operators essentially operate on GRID type networks and I am of the opinion that when there is an order to ascending numbers i.e. 1 is foloowed by 2 and 2 by 3 and so on and so forth, It is advisable to complete the 3G grid and then advance to the most likely 4G!! This is what I normally follow in my work to ensure FAIL SAFE advancement :)

its too early to say if we are capable of implementing 4G.auction of 3G took so much time.so it will be better for india to make people averse with 3G and then think of 4G

Sonam, thanks for referring. India has invested so much amount for the implementation of 3G for the last 2-3 years and the auction is already going on through net. It is not a fair idea for a country like india to directly jump to 4G as china decided to skip the 3G stage and spent more than 18 $ million for the construction of a brand new 4G network. But I am happy if we will be able to connect throgh 4G asap, just imagine downloading a movie in DVD quality for only 6 minutes, great isn't ?

We cannot directly implement 4G directly before 3G even if there are more advantages of 4G.The reason behind this is both technical and financial. In technical terms infrastructure in India is not totally ready even for 3G and our telecos are still working on their backbone networks to upgrade their current 2/2.5G networks to 3G.And in financial terms a lot of investment goes in this process as seen from auction of 3G spectrum (even as per statistics it is much less than other parts of the world)

There is one small problem Sonam, 3G technology has not yet been fully implemented in India. I don't think it will be wise to directly jump without completing the full implementation of 3G to 4G. Rather, we should approach in step by step procedure
