I totallu agree to the above said but sometimes it is very harmful. Usually people at leadership role keep silent when they have to manipulate things or hide somthing which is not in favour of the emplyees, then it is really harmful. Otherwide it is best key to be observant in the organization & breaking the silence when needed the most at the right time. :) :)

Silence plays major role at work place in India. It is always safe side to be silent. Silence is the best weapon to observe the happenings at work place, a great source of strength. When people play games at work place, silence will enable us to focus on our career goals and reach the destination with in short time. Better to be silent all the time and wave a cheerful smile inspite of hard times.

It is true that SILENCE is the secret behind workplace injuries. However we can't say it is ugly and in happens in most of cases. HR profession is full of secrets hence we have to dell with the situation and decide is Silence is needed at point of time or not. I support Anuradha and also agree that this is the human nature and 90% of managers play with their teams and always try to keep them Silent.

I truely support this. Till the time you are silent nobody says anything against your the moment you raise your voice against wrongdoings you are target of your own seniors which is totally and totally wrong.

Thanks for referral, Ravali and Gargi If you open your mouth to the boss of your boss then who knows they are two very good colleagues and you are just cross checked by them. So smarter employee will keep silence. But this shoulde be avoided as if we keep silence then it will be taken as your weakness by your superiors and it may affect your appraisal as well as career further.

Well What you are talking about? silence or tolerating the wrong thing? If you are talking about silence then it gives strength. If you are talking about tolerating wrong thing. then it is harmful in any area either work place or public place or home. keep silence and dont tolerate wrong thing.

Hey, To reduce Accidents at work-place, there needs to be a System, comprehensively, ensuring Safety of personnel, material & environment. The " Ice Berg principle" says the unreported or uncorrected unsafe acts / conditions cause a fatal accidents. It is, a pyramid with a Base of millions of Near-miss remains uncorrected paves gradually to a pinnacle of fatal accidents. So , to ensure a zero accident target or to have an effective safety system, there needs to be an effective accident report methods , may be orally or verbally. This system also encourage to report ," No name No blame way " . That is, accident can, also, be reported anonymously to protect Individual from the Corporate people. So , what the report says that can be, due to , absence of a system in place or even if there is one, it may not be effective. Meaning that accidents reported are not investigated & proper corrective measures are not taken to avoid recurrence.

SILENT???
YOU ARE NOT A SLAVE, YOU ARE BEING PAID FOR WHAT YOU ARE DOING. IF YOU HAVE ANY PROBLEM, SPEAK OUT, GOD HAS GIVEN YOU TONGUE TO SPEAK.
YOU ALWAYS LISTEN TO YOUR BOSS AND NEVER PLAYED DOWN HIS/HER INSTRUCTIONS, THEN WHY WHY WHY SHOULD YOU REMAIN SILENT?
WHEN THINGS GO AGAINST THE GRAIN AT SUCH SITUATION IT WOULD BE THE FITTEST IDEA TO MEET YOUR BOSS AND DISCLOSE ALL YOUR PROBLEMS (NOTE: - WHEN HE/SHE IS IN EXPANSIVE MOOD) AND DO NOT DEPEND ON ANY INTERMEDIARY SINCE HE/SHE CAN TWIST THE KNIFE IN WHICH WILL CREATE MORE PROBLEMS (A BACKBITER).
BREAK YOUR SILENCE!!!!!!

I strongly oppose. Silence itself is beautiful. It let's other realize their mistakes. But the reason, behind the silence is what needs to be understood. Most of them are under pressures, few are suppressed by bosses, few knew whats happening, few just make out what trainer has to say, few compare their knowledge and fun while training, OR may be the trainer is more open and he found other ppl silent. Could be many more reasons. But ppl who are remain Silence doesn't show any risk, rather they suppress risk. I believe..
