In a country like India, a common man sees cost first. So, in this case small cars will overtake big car's market. But it will also create a lot of traffic problems...

Yes, In the future small cras will rule the world. If you see the present scenario all over the world, People are in need of small, fuel efficient and environmentally friendly Cars. If we take countries like India and China, demand of small car is more becuase of population, heavy traffic and affordability.

Sudeep that will be there but most of the auto makers are getting into this space like recently Malaysian auto maker Proton with its super mini car "Savvy" is eying Indian markets. Proton is currently looking for a joint venture partner in India to manufacture and market its cars in India....

I see this space getting very HOT.....

Most manufacturers are shifting their focus from large cars to compact, but the idea of ruling the world is debatable but could hold true for a place like India and where it matters in size alone and not engine capacity like the Nano for example. Small cars will be easier to handle on congested indian roads but can get frustrating on a highway. When other fuel options are commercialy viable the situation could reverse even in India.

Small cars rules the road because of economy, cost of handling , maintenance , ease of congestion during heavy traffic . But this doesnt mean bigger ones cannot rule. They can rule provided people can afford the costs, right from purchasing till fuel economy & maintenance they burn our wallets .

I support to the idea of Kailash. Its true that small cars are being selected by huge masses in Asian countries especially India. So I think small cars will outclass big cars some day.

I believe there will be a greater focus on small cars. These cars will fit better into the post-crisis landscape not only because customers in Western countries will turn to smaller, more fuel efficient cars but also because in emerging markets such as India or China, these cars will be the vehicle of choice for the masses of first-time car buyers. And these markets will set the agenda with their own production.

I am a person who prefer small car for my use. But today the automakers are in an idea to manufacture big cars in huge number which would suite the rich & business level population in the society & also we have seen that even during this recession time people are behind big cars. So I think small cars would not rule the roads completely anywhere in the near future!!!
