Social media influencing employees to be honest ?

No it is just a assumption

First off, people usually don't take long sick leaves to go on vacation. They usually call in sick for a day to rest or to go out, but just one day is not a vacation.

And even if assuming they do, yes they can post their holidays pictures.

All they have to do is filter out the work colleagues.

Otherwise they can lie about the pics as well, either those are from older vacations or they can wait a while and later post the holiday pics. Although first option is much easier. 

I believe this topic is ridiculous.

First, it assumes people are honest in social networking side, they don't have to. Besides, smart people are discreet when using social media and doesn't publish all the info that might get them into trouble or embarrassment later. 

Second, your work colleagues don't have to be in your social network. Even if they are, you can easily filter them from viewing personal posts.

I can go on and on but this whole debate sounds foolish.

Yes, honesty is the best policy. Diplomacy can only  be used with people who understands it, how can diplomacy be used with people who enjoy 'blind hatred'.

Ours is not a law abiding culture or society. So, any tom or harry can harass you for taking a stand against them. In that type of a lawless society it is good to use proxy names to participate in  social media...

Honesty and diplomacy are two things which everybody use to get success in his/her career. I think social media is creating an environment where people tend to be more diplomatic rather than honest.
