There are two ways to look at it. My vote for Yes is for the latter part of your question - it does look wrong on your professional life. But given the freedom of expression, it is ok and dont forget the egg is on the face of the person posting - so he will have to reap the after effects of such action. But we cannot control or police what one can post - it goes against the basic tennets of internet freedom. So responsible people will know what to post and what to avoid. Lets leave it at that !

Totally agree with Diya. What we post or comment reflects more on our standards than the person on the receiving end. In the name of freedom of expression, we cannot malign individuals nor mislead a community. It speaks of our moral standards.

Sensation may attract the people so easily, but it is short lived. Truth has long life, but it is hard to inject. To get the attention, people are not hesitating to go their way not realising the consequences.

There is an explanation for the fundamentak rights as granted by the constitution of india ! For freedom of expression, it clearly states that you are free to express yourself as long as it is not derogatory to someone or insults or affects others. Leave that apart decency and good sense dictates that you should not post something or say things that would harm someones reputation if it cannot be proved ultimately !

I believe that journalists in today's environment all feel investigative and interogative while reporting a story or conducting an interview. Come on, freedom of express does not mean you are free to speak your guts out. Rather than being objective about the story, they are reporting in a more personal and subjective manner, sometimes to the extent of being politically being biased. Otherwise how can you explain the way Barkha acted in the way she did in the Radia mess, or for that matter Sardesai in the Gujarat riots commentary. Flagrant, that is how you can describe it.

Yes, I agree that wrong things should not be posted on public domain especially concerning personal affairs and life. I have noticed a couple of statements and called up those people and told them not do such things. We can joke , but not post unsavoury, uncalled for comments

No, journalists and writers are supposed to expose the truth and blow the lid on ppl, digging out the truth. MAnners is too superficial a requirment. In that sense Khushwant Singh, V S Naipaul were always rubbing ppl up the wrong way and were awarded for it!!!
