Sony Ericsson has decided to go green by launching two phones, Elm and Hazel phone. It also launched the eco-friendly accessory, Bluetooth Noise Shield Handsfree VH700. The Sony Ericsson Elm and the Sony Ericsson Hazel phones offer consumers a green choice without compromising on features or fun.

Both phones offer an easy-to-use social networking experience featuring the Widget Manager application, which allows users access to their social networking page via the stand-by screen and quickly switch between different social networks.

It surely should be a success.  If not this phone then the concept surely will be a big hit.  This would provoke competition in the same field.  People already have started to acknowledge the adverse effects of global warming and have started becoming more and more aware of the simple steps that can be taken to curb it.

So i think this idea surely is a positive one in telecomm industry.

Just for your ref. Nokia too is working on developing enhanced phones based on nano technology.  Its called Nokia MORPH.  have a look :

Its hard to say whether this will be a success or not, as the Smartphone is composed of recycled plastic, but then it also has an E manual, minimized packaging, waterborne paint and many more such features introduced using cutting edge technology. As these phones have gone green many times one would have compromised on some or the other thing to go green, so in a way will have less features than normal phones out there, so we have to wait and see how the phone performs in the market, Though people thinking green these days and are readily accepting green products, may be Sony Ericsson has come up with something really good here....
