Spain fought a hard match to claim their position as the world champs for the First time in the history, and the Netherlands missed the bus once again for the 3rd time, the previous occasions they were defeated by Germans and Argentina in 1974 and 1978 respectively, and also many good teams like Italy the 2006 champions went out in the first round, and Brazil the five time champions exited in the quarter finals, and Argentina with Diego Maradona thought they can win this time, but  nothing happened like that, England was not upto the mark....

Spain the 2008 Euro champs, made their mark for the first time in History by winning the worldcup for the first time....The Spanish armada sailed high and the jubiliation was there to see...So, what do you think people, Do you think the best team won the worldcup this time around??

I think yes, Spain had all the ingredients to win a world cup, they showed their class 2yrs ago by winning European championships, where they beat germany, there are many people arguing that a deserving team like brazil or germany did not win and were denied due to some slack refereeing, and some blunders in the initial stages where we saw Mexico and England go out due to refereeing errors, and these human errors cost many games in this world cup, but nothing to take away from Spain here, they showed determination and a constant attacking game of theirs made them triumph this time, David Villa and Iniesta were the top performers for Spain, and aptly supported by others in the team... And I think the best team won the Worldcup this time :)

NO... THE TEAM THAT KEPT ITS' NERVE WON !!

It always happens in such Tournaments, that the Team which is composed & keeps its' nerves ultimately goes on to WIN.

IT DOES NOT MEAN ITS THE BEST TEAM... BUT IT SURELY MEANS... THAT it was a Good Day for them & they played well on that day.

I don,t think Spain was the Best Team in this world Cup. if you will see all of the matches Argentina was no doubt the best team but when it lost one match then Spain we can say is one of the best team because they had shown the potential in Euro cup by winning and it gave the boost to them actually the early exit of Brazil and exit of South American countries gave the way for Spain and if you take about the forward then Spain was not so good because i wont talk about no of goals because Messaih hasn't done any single goal but he was the strongest contender of player of the tournament and no doubt he is greatest ever so too thing plays to make the Spain early exit of good teams and the teams which were left in semi final in that no doubt Spain has the advantage and they have proved, i can just say Spain played well and they became winner but ti doesn't reflect its the Best team

I agree with Malladi's argument. I am also a fan of German Football but they could not keep the grit, zeal,confidence,entusiam and top of all they played defensive football and the result LOSS.

On the contarary Spain had all the ingridients to win and they won off course by sheer luck in final. It appeared that Netherland has bagged the match but it was not to be.

It is the matter of maintaining same grit , zeal, confidence, enthusiam through out the tournament.

Germany"s approach has been defensive lacked confidence and enthusiam that is why they lost.

Moreover, they played a cleaner game in comparison with some other appreciated teams - rarely targetted the ankles and knees of the opponent team.

Yes Ayan the best team won the world cup. Remember I have predicted this along with England before the start of the WC.

However, you need a little bit of luck which I think Spain had in abandence.

yes... they had won Uro Cup in 2008 and they beat some greatest football team in this tournament. So i think they deserve it..

Yes, I agree with you Ayan. Spain played like champions against Germany in semi finals but they were put to greater test against Netherlands. Both teams deserved to reach the finals. In finals they fought for the esteemed cup. England or Ghana or Mexico may have suffered on account of refereeing errors, but human error should also be taken as the part of the game. I guess, it is to say 'Jo jeeta wohi sikandar'.

When the doubt comes...that automatically gives a reason. Spain has never been a great team and no historical great success. They dont have extraordinary skills that catches eye and people remember for long. People remember Brazil's goals for decades and Argentina's famous 25 pass goals but who will remember spain's goal this world cup?
