DATA STATES ONLY 1% RURAL POPULATION HAS ACCESS TO PURIFIED POTABLE WATER, WHEREAS 68% POPULATION LIVES IN VILLAGES.

WATER PURIFIERS LIKE TATA SWACH COST UNDER RS 1000, DO NOT REQUIRE ELECTRICITY TO OPERATE, PURIFY 3000 LTRS OF WATER ENOUGH FOR A FAMILY OF 5 FOR ONE YEAR AND REQUIRE A CARTRIDGE CHANGE COSTING ONLY RS 250/, LESS THAN THE COST OF A MOBILE HANDSET AND RECHARGE COUPEN, WHICH AGAIN THE DATA SAYS EVERY 4TH RURAL FOLK OWNS.

WHAT INDIAN GOVT. COULD NOT PROVIDE TO ITS EVERY CITIZEN IN 60 YRS THAT IS PURE DRINKING WATER -- TATA AND OTHERS CAN PROVIDE - BY CHANGING THEIR MARKETING ANGLE -- BY GOING RURAL IN 2 YEARS.

IS TATA LISTENING?

Only 1% penetrated virgin rural market should be targeted for non-electrical water purifier supported with awareness campaign. Some small urban markets where availability of electricity is poor, can also be targeted for such purifier.

Mr Tandon, I feel that although rural market is not yet penetrated, but problem here is that for that you have to launch a massive campaign, because in rural areas still awareness about water purifiers is very poor, and their necessity is not felt if all major players in market like Tata, HLL,Eureka forbes and kent together and generate an awreness it would be somthing like telecom revolution for water purifier business. But what I see in adds of these companies that they have started targeting each other a bit too early.
