I strongly agreeing you post MR.NITIN. If you start blaming fb for poor grades of students, then they have to blame internet, computer etc.But internet is providing a ocean of knowledge.

i think its a partially true , not 100% beacuse its depend upon the student how he can use the social networking ,for useless gossiping or useful, and it also depend on concertation level of that sudent in his studies

Students up and down the country are spending more and more time using social media. Rather than relying on life experiences, educational travel and face to face interaction with others, children are becoming obsessed with social networking and this is shaping their attitudes instead. "And as the teachers spell out, it is this obsession which has a direct impact on the future of our children - affecting their grades because they fail to complete their homework on time or to the standard required, and being unable to concentrate in class."

WE WANT GLOBALLY KNOWLEDGE NOW SO FOR THAT WE WANT TO CONNECT ALL THOSE THING. FOR THAT WE DECIDE PARTICULAR TIME. THAT MEAN FAULT BY US NOT FACEBOOK OR TWITTER.

I think instead of blaming facebook or twitter for poor grades of students why can't teachers think of the ideas thorough which teachers can share their knowledge and experiences with students. Being a student i would always love my teacher walking my way and helping me in taking steps further.

Poor grades means more pressure on teachers because poor grades means bad reputation for the institution, which will negatively impact yearly incoming admissions a.k.a loss in business. Gone are the days, when there is someone other than our parents to worry about our future, instead they blame like anyone when their effort goes crap. Instead of - mother, father, teacher, God - its actually - money, media, career, cut throat competition -

I do not think so,there are other many reasons for getting poor rating or poor marks in the class.Facebook or Twitter can increase the knowledge of the students if it has been used in right direction.

I am sure its not the only reason for the poor grades of students. The poor grading was going on in the past also when these social sites were not there. In fact Adults are in majority at these sites not the children. Teachers should take care of the students and should avoid blaming the sites.
