A corrupt Judge, doctor, engineer, lawyer, technologist or any other professional may not be as common a thingy as a corrupt politician or burocrat. I don't think true professionals will be bothered about control. I have mentioned this before, the Paul Baran who passed away last month, who is said to be the 'father of the Internet', had designed the Packet Switching Network ,which underlies all that is called Net. Mind you, it was during the intense cold war days of control and apprehension that the Packet switching Technology was released in the Public Domain! A very big thing that can be done only by a Technologist.

Mr Joydeep, don't you think mass awareness and adaptability to the new technology is moreover necessary to propagate the changes in coming days. As long as politicians learn the preferences of next generation tech aware people, won't they do the same, making hollow sounds about the change they have brought in. I think we must not treat the politicians change maker or trend setter any further, they must rather be treated as service providers to all of us.

In INDIA, whoever has been given any power, he has en cashed it!Be it POLITICIANS or BABUS.When people are of low origins and of low self-esteem and brought up with bad childhood experience(quoting Sir Bertrand Russel), it will happen.90% of our populace belong to this category.Remaining people have no ambition either to be politician or babu. The atmosphere is so vitiating! Politicians should be allowed only to frame laws and should travel only in their constituencies.Remove all powers and subjectivities from the domains of the babus.Rest everything be done by the computers. Any further suggestions to improve the above?

I feel that technology would regulate itself. For example. take the InterNet. It was a handy work of a few engineers involved in the ARPA project during the cold war years. Look at what it has evolved into. Not even the engineers who designed the beast would be able to 'pull the plug' or regulate its content. The Net is evolving into a 'Collective conciousness' of the globe, the next stage of evolution of man kind. Maybe it sounds utopian now, I feel within decades there won't be the governments and nations we see now. Everything would be the Network. Instead of 'Of the people, By the people and for the people' its going to be 'Of the network, by the network and for the network'. And pray why do we need all these nations at all?

Listen one thing folks, politicians are not scientist or engineers they are just Orators, it is a well known fact that we should rely on "Deeds" not "Words".My question is why do we need somebody to rule us? We were born in a society where rulers rule with or without any compassion, we can get rid of it now or else it will be late, thank God or Dog whatever, atleast we are realizing the "ugly truth" being unleashed before our eyes...Politics, n: [Poly "many" + tics "blood-sucking parasites"]This is my stance in facebook...We don't need politicians and I condemn Democracy as well...=)

Joydeep I agree with all your points but to my mind technology will not be able to redundant the politicians. On the contrary the politicians will be taking full advantage of the incoming technology so that they perform fault free assignments.

Absolutely and that is what I want totally a Jaque Fresco liner, people please pay heed to what Jaque Fresco says and also it is time for us to know more about Nikola Tesla no more Thomas Alva Eddison...As we can see machines are taking place of workers in factories, massive job-cuts etc, to determine the amalgamation of technology based on resources available to us.(RESOURCE-BASED ECONOMY)...=)

The politicians know that and hence they wont opt for it as they need systems that are manipulable, that fits their choices and hence even though technology can replace it will take a long time

It is ridiculous. 70% of netizens (Citizens who use net) voted for Mr. Abdul Kalam for his second term in office. But, nobody cares for it. Just for the communists who were allies for UPA-1 voted against him, we have Madam Prathiba Patil. She has Prathibha in her name but not in style. So sad of it.

The improved regularity in data updation and planned Solutions to need based necessities can be better planned and procured-managed in time for masses;and dependence on flimsy assurances with lolly pops will not be helpful to mislead in view of well organised and planned segment wise sollutions for multiple locations.

Since each of us cannot go to the parliament or assembly or local bodies to cast votes or make choice on issues or laws, we elect people to the legislative bodies and they in-turn make decisions for us, for the whole state and for the whole country. Presently, we go through the elections and voting process every 5 years, to elect our representatives, to the parliament, assemblies and various local bodies, to select those people who are supposed take stands on issues and make laws, which again is supposed to represent the opinion of the majority. But we have seen that somewhere along, the perspective of the representatives aka the politician, changes and they no longer represent the majority of the electorate, but their own self interest and we have this entity 'vote bank politics'.And the full term of 5 years of letting these so called peoples' representatives loose and free and cost us dearly.
Now, what if a facility or technology comes in such that each of us is able to voice or vote for or against any issue from our computer or cellphone? And the technology or system finds the majority of our votes on each of the issue and conveys it to the implementors? Do we still need someone to represent us? Of course, we do the implementors (the professionals) - civil servants, the police, Judiciary, CAG,CBI .... but the Politician?

Unfortunately technology only works the way the users wants it to. So, the controls remain crucial and if the controller is corrupt he can corrupt the best of technology. In nutshell to have any tangible results people have to learn to value honesty no amount of automation can replace this requirement.

Ms Sanjana, of-course we the people and responsible citizens of India, need to do everything. It is only the 'obligation' of our scientists, technologists, doctors, engineers, lawyers etc. We need to convert this 'obligation' into responsibility and aim. So far the question of monitoring is concerned I think we can make the politicians well equipped to monitor the system and complains by our voting right.

If we say the technology will make one human being redundant, than it may shock everybody. This science fiction may come true one day. The modern gadgets will be very useful to Politicians, Judges, professionals, police and everyone in the society. The technology will help to identify bad people in all spears.

Dont be so cock sure that technology will take care of every thing because that technology is used by humanbeings who can go wrong. Did any one hear about the word GIGO this is a technical word coined by the computer savy guys. There was research which says the error committed by a computer (Technology) will take overthousands of human beings working for several hours a day years to commit that nature of mistake. Technology only helps in speeding the process but a human being is required to ensure that the results are accurate.

May I tell you, I have been around a few politicians, trying to sell and educate technology. And these weren't quite clever guys. Yes, we need to sell it to them. And what entices them to fund technology? You might have guessed it.

Technology needs a controller. A person to set and regulate the activities. It cannot be a replacement for a human being. It is a means to assist humans in working. If it were so then we would be living in a world of fantasy. Politicians exist in even the most developed nations of the world.
