Tendulkar Sets Record With 30,000 Runs: Is he the Greatest Player of Cricket?

Answer to me with valid points not emotionally driven mind

If he is the god then please go ahead and ask him to score a century out of 30 balls with eyes blindfolded come on my dear citizens of peoples republic of India be practical.........

He is NOT the highest Scorer in a match of any form

He is NOT the highest Wicket tacker all over and in a match

He is NOT the Best and fittest fielder     So whats the point in consideration of godliness in him read my very first comment for further clarifications

All said and done the greatest of them all - be it Bradman, Sobers, Kapil, Warne, Botham, or others closer memory- they cannot be bigger than the game. They are just greats.

There arrives a point in greatness, from wherein onwards comparisons with other greatness is foolhardy. It is stupid to even compare the laras, Pontings, Sachin with each other. Much less against the Sobers, Benauds, Richards and other greats of different eras. All of them are greats and an act by themselves.

I am one of the greatest fan of Sachin. His apetite for the game, his consistency, his skill and concentration make him legendary. Above all, his simplicity and down-to-earth attitude make him a lovable personality, above all controversies. I love Sachin for these qualities and cherish his batting.

But I dislike the people, who immediately rush to prove him the greatest cricketer, demand "Bharat Ratna" for him and call him God f Cricket. These people show sysmptoms of sychophancy, the quality I dislike most. The demand for "Bharat Ratna" for Sachin sounds like a good joke to me.

Of course Sachin is a great player. But Sunil Gavaskar, Vivian Richards, Lara, Kapil Dev, have devoted their life and best efforts for enrichng cricket. While admiring Sachin, we should also learn to respect others.

Secondly ,WHY ARE YOU PICKING ON ME? Is it because I am not Indian?There are other connections who also commented in the negative and you did not give them  a sermon. It seems as though some part of my comment really annoyed you. I also noticed that the person who caused me to make my first comment has since deleted his comment. Is he by any means connected to you?

According to me there is no greatest player in the game of cricket. It is very difficult to make comparisons. There are many great cricketers and Sachin is one of them. As for cricket statistics, no need to remind me of anything. As for Indian cricketers, I have to date met greats like Sunil Gavaskar, Kapil Dev, Sachin Tendulkar. I hope to meet Rohit Sharma and a few others when they come to the Caribbean/Guyana next month.

Finally, this debate is about 4 months old, it seems as though you just woke up or you just joined Toostep , since this is your first contribution on this forum. However, I want to welcome you aboard.

Pranay, are you trying to convince me that Sachin is the greatest player of cricket? Did you check the stats of how many games he has played to date? Don't you think if Sunil Gavaskar or Kapil Dev or Vivian Richards or Brian Lara had played that amount of cricket they might have surpassed that total?. By the way why are you comparing Pointing with Sachin? Pointing is a very successful captain to date...he has lost matches but never been dropped from his captaincy.

Greatest player differs from greatest batsman.

There are people who haev done PHD and also shone in their carrer, there are some who have done only schooling and haev shone in their career

Talk about Sachin Asian continent he is teh king , talk about Africa Barian Lara , Garyy Sobers, gary Sobers, Walsh ( hope you know him- fast bowler), Ambrose - another fast bowler, these guys were worshipped

Peopel used to look at their practise matchesd with awe

students used to look at them with awe

Ambrose visited his school where he studied and teh children were all over him listening to him in rapt attention

So dont compare greats , they are greats in their own feilds, Sachin always humbly sates he is not number 1 then who are we to state so , he belives Sir Bradman to be number 1 .

 yes I have palyed cricket and have seen Sachin play cricket at a distance of few meters, he is as human as I am and he is as excelllent as a soilder in the boder protecting my country, there are greats in all walks of life you just need to see that person see withen yourself even you are great in soem area but you haev not seen that

Sachin has and so he is great

u cant say he is the greatest bcoz many present and past players are almost like him or better trhan him if it would be to choose between only one of the two players in one day who would u choose sehwag or sachin same way for test wud u choose amla or sachin going by present form sachin can never equal don bradmans technique or viv agression

Sorry Cricket is a game of the utmost lazy people where the fitness doesn't matter at all even the pot-belly people can also be seen in large volume tell me other than sumo wrestling and cricket where could you find those bulky masses? Please be practical. :-)

Well Mr suraj dev singh you are a btech student right so tell me who is the best man professionally I think you would like to agree with me that the best man is who can perform even with his/her closed eyes so let Sachin be perfectly like that then only I can consider him the greatest

Mr Suvrajit Gangopadhyay when these cricketers can feel of endorsing a brand rather than going to receive a national excellence award they are not doing the business right? And if they are doing it so why the hell I should not make it more professional by calculating the averages and all that and about me being bookie had I been the same I will not present myself everywhere be sensible rather than a simple so called foolish fan

A clear cut NO as after playing for 20 long Years what can you expect I expected at least 5000 runs per year for first 5 years the 6500 per another 5 then 8000 for another & considering the age factor but experience would restrict myself to a mere 7000 so the figure must have been 132500 & he is well short by 102500 runs NOPES he is not the great

I dont think he is the only greatest player in the world there are few who has done different forms of records in cricket field, Don bradman has done in test with a massive  average of closely 100 which is impossible for sachin. Brain lara scored 400 Runs in Test which is a record. Rahul Dravid has Scored a Record 11000 Runs in Tests which is completed in Just 14 Years of span where Sachin is in 12+ Odd Runs in Test So like wise There are many Greatest players in the Cricket hisory. But what makes sachin so special is he is the one who debuted cricket arena so early so everyone had so much of love on this boy which still they keep on him is cos of his consistency.

Indeed Sachin is one of the greatest players of cricket but it doesn't mean he is the only good player. We should not forget players like Kapil dev and Viv richards who are a milestone in cricket history. No matter Sachin is the longest playing cricketer ever but we shouldn't underestimate other talents because of him.
