Dear Namrata, "OVER- COMMERCIALIZATION of any activity is bound to be damaging." Not only IPL it will damage cricket- the sport, as well. And so for credibility it is foolish to gauge credibility through commercial prism in first place. So it is at best price for over-indulgence, may we say.

we all knew that developing country like us can not afford to waste too much of time and money in such circus like IPL Many of us now are fooled by politians who ruined agriculture & economy of this country and media is covering IPL events more than real issues of common man IPL has not created any job opportunity but it is prooved now that its another avenue to run business (as quoted by Subrato roy of sahara recently), so IPL is full of black money, what government's open door policy means by IPl is dont go out of india to play gamble, we will give you equal opportunites in india than elsewhere, So IPL is a real Indian Circus of indian people

Did they have credibility in the first place? Anyone who thinks IPL is about cricket is mistaken. It is a front for speculation and activities that would normally not be permissible under the law of the land. Big money is riding on it. Why is there so much secrecy about the owners? Why are astronomical sums being bid without knowing whether the venture will succeed or not? Many have jumped on to this bandwagon to make a quick killing. Imagine one celebrity endorsing nearly 50 products. Has the celebrity actually used even one of the products? What credibility are we talking about? It is about money, power, jockeying for positions etc. As a popular writer has suggested, the government can take a leaf out of the concept - name prominent roads, bridges, landmarks, whatever after celebrities through auctions. Print a series of currency with a celebrity's name and photograph - again through an auction. We will probably have enough money to remove poverty from the country. As for the MOS, clearly he is in the wrong place. If he wanted to tweet to his heart's content, he should have stayed out of government. You cannot be a part of the government and keep criticizing its policies. That is not only arrogance but also a fantastic display of lack of maturity. Let him cite a single contribution of his official position to this country - be it Indians under attack down under, or climate change or nuclear non-proliferation or Af-Pak. He is doing everything except his job. Credibility?

Sure, Namrata. Credibility is surely at stake but whose between the two is debatable. Given a choice between the two, IPL is bound to loose more than Tharoor. By getting into the controversial mode, Lalit Modi is bound to get into the government regulatory bodies head on and tough times are ahead for IPL's chairman. To secretively manage a spectacular SPORTING-MARKETING event and to hide crucial details would definitively be looked into and with high degree of seriousness. Not that Tharoor would be spared, for one reads about Sunanda's lnk with team Kochhi because of him.

Bourocrats, technocrats, professionals etc. aspire to hold a high office in politics and in Govt. Some of us believe that they may become 'most' successful even though they have had no idea about India, Indian citizens and her heritages and cultures. ( here a good portion of people do not get square meal a day ). We have got an unique 'educated' man as Minister of GOI who has good exposure in USA and political culture of that country. But ... this is India, a great civilisation created even before USA was born. Mr Tharoor is now a good subject of discussion here in India and her political circle ... less elaborated ...less better. He might take a 'vacation' from (Indian) politics .. say for one year and join an IPL cricket team to gurner fame, glamour, money and .. if possible .. a brand new Girl Friend for himself.

Hello, IPL should give the details of ownership of the teams to be made public. This will enhance their creditability. Mr. Tharoor should not interfere on behalf one Team. This will create unnecessary problem. Let the minister do his work for the welfare of the people without creating media hipe. K Rajagopalan.

In this murky episode, neither appear to be saints. As for IPL, it proved to be a great commercial success, hence will outlive both of them. -------------------------------- IPL's credibility will not suffer and the people will continue to watch it and make it a continued commercial successas for as long as there are no match -fixing allegations. As for other murky dealing like nepotism, cronyism, etc. the investigating agencies will uncover and will try to book all the culprits, hopefully.

NO... THE PRODUCT HAS GROWN MUCH BIGGER THAN THE PRODUCERS ! This is a classic case where the CHILD has grown BIGGER than the PARENTS... and Now, its beyond such a, MODI - THAROOR INCI-DENT, to make a DENT on this giant called IPL. Yes, overall one wouldnt want this to happen, BUT the world is so busy enjoying the matches & expressing their Loyalty to their particular Team, that this has become more of a SIDE DISH, in comparison to the MAIN COURSE which is dishes out, Day in & Day out. Happy Debating Friends !
