Mr Makrand I salute your point but there is little difference here ; Even without IPL Cricket was a huge popular in other words a sort of National game ...by the way nothing has changed much in terms of popularity... There is a decorum to showcase the event , reward the talent and to up keep the sportsman spirit. With big sponsors and unknown figures do you feel the game can be played fairly.......with its image has already been tarnished due to different scams in the past........ With IPL concept they are not rewarded but are purchased..........The are labelled for so n so figures before the IPL tournament while on the hand player is rewarded after the performance in other tournaments With scams Satyam licked the dust and lost its parenthood unlike cricket......... It is all the money spinners who own the cricket and they are using cricket as a scapegoat. Here who is Raju just keep on finding him..... If players are gratified with money then also take the case of Hansie Cronje. Satyavrat has already mentioned about Dav Whatmore In other words we cannot let money play its Wild Cards. Note : for the sake of continuity i have combined my views

true Mr.Rohit, Sorry for a delayed opinion, but i think what would be next according to me is that this would hugely demotivate other players who arent getting selected and will be a big dissappointment for all the cricket fans as now not talent but money will turn the tables in their favourite game. Another saying by baba satyavrat jadeja goes as "where there is money, there is corruption, there is bribery and malpractices". So I guess the mysterious death of bob woolmer (whoseover say its a suicide or attack or anything may also be true, i personally dont know) was an alert of cricket world turning notorious and crime-calling. I guess the day is not far when they'll introduce 10-10 cricket and the prices for players would be costing people more than a fortune. I just appeal there be a tax raid and a permanent ban on such commercialization of sports. Let businessmen handle their own business, if they have extra money, give it me or invest somewhere into the country's infrastructre & technology. Celebs can start investing their money into flopbuster films rather. You know this has one more side-effect, see what has happened to the national sport of india-Hockey. The people are no longer interested to watch hockey, they just are behind cricket. The heights of it is Sehwag is signed for an advt to promote indian hockey tourney or something. Hockey people have completely lost their identity. India needs to buck up.

Mr Makrand your point is quite a valid one but upto certain range. Do you feel talent is only restricted to Cricketers, here only Cricket is showcased and the topic title is also Cricket. No one would like to sit back at home and rake up dead issues, every one loves to surge ahead as this is in human nature and for this developing countries like India have tons of issues. Is that our Marketing system has failed that we need to concentrate only on one talent to showcase and that is for Cricket. We need to evolve Marketing strategies which showcase multidimensional events without prejudice to any other disciplines.

I too believe that this auction of players must be stopped. Spending crorers of rupees for a player and buying his talent is not good for sports. We can see even players going behind the large sum of money, which will lead to play a spoil part on the game.

even the scams be it betting; match fixing ; ball tempering ......nothing has deterred the game CRICKET ....such are the cricket fans especially Asians....... Take England.... they have football as the other fav game ...take Australia.... great performer in Olympics....The love for cricket or market for cricket is Primarily Asian Cricket playing nations.

I too feel the same. We should recognize the talent, but unfortunately we are making fun with them. All these are marketing gimmicks and more over i felt its a matter of moneylandering. How to stop this nonsense is big question here, but unfortunatly its not possible in the land where "CRICKET PRAISE LIKE A RELIGION AND SACHIN AS A GOD."

Whats going on people? Talent is no longer a personal property, the
constant and hyper-commercialization of sports has led to an
infringement of personal interests and skill. There used to be a time
when being a sportsperson was an honour while today it is a sheer
question of selling yourself. What is this mad freaking fuss about
cricketers being "purchased" for crores of rupees by big shots and
celebs. As it is people are cursing the sportsmen for taking too many
commercial endorsements and resulting in poor performance and finally
to defeat, apart from these, there are the 'teesras', doping, match
fixing, illegal bidding, internal and external conflicts, etc. So many
things to be taken care of and now they imbibe the feeling of hatred
and competition amongst team members due to segregating them into
different regional teams. Too much commercialization is not good.
Its
fine that it is a good entertainment option and people love it but what
about the mainframe one day internationals and test cricket, although I
personally dislike cricket, I feel players should concentrate on
mainframe cricket rather than to run after money and embarass the
country in global tournaments.
Please Stop this Trade.

Manish, here the reference to talent has been made with Cricket but my comment is on talent overall!! It applies to talent generally speaking. Talent gets you everywhere whereas no talent will never get you anywhere!! If there were no actors would there be entertainment?? If there were no politicians would there be peace at all?? If there were no people would you be able to argue and meet at any point at all?? You see for every action there is always an equal and opposite force of reaction. There will be talent and takers for talent all the time!!

Talent if not bought to showcase will never be seen to be appreciated. Likewise, if not seen, why would people follow it?? If no followers, who would be your next idol?? Politicians?? Actors?? Sportsmen?? Everyone needs a muse to idolise and to push that extra mile. Come on people, if not for money, you would be sitting in your living rooms doing nothing but twiddling thumbs and probably raking ghosts of the past!! Its nice to know that because I have talent I have a job and I get paid for it. Will you work gratis, Sir?? I would like to use such employmebt opportunities immediately!! I am not being rude or mean by any length. Lets understand that talent sells and sells faster than no talent at all!! The more I think of it, it has to do with the phenomenal amount of money than anything else. So people quit being so introverted and look at the larger canvass. Be proud that you have talent and you have a job!! Period.

Friends, Well, I agree to some extent that cricket had taken a back seat, for it rained dollars on the cricket ‘stars’ though some of them were only into their first international season. But the IPL has attracted the best of international players, some of them having retired from the game and a few others having opted out of this format of cricket. Everyone wants to see them..... IPL auction in a way offers a great hope and a great future to the players. In the IPL, the domestic players will get a feel of international cricket even without playing for India. Definitely, they can learn a lot. IPL is welcome as long as it did not hurt the traditional format of the game. You can make money from cricket but you cannot make a cricket career just because you have money. And also IPL provides good entertainment so let us take it like that....
