For a cleaner and pollution free environment the government had formulated the policy of banning public vehicles which are more than 15 years old. Following the implementation of this policy had been difficult in Kolkata, but it had been at last implemented. But has the Government implemented the same on its own public vehicles, eg., the state run buses??

As everyone is talking about going green and India is trying to cut the emission rate, each individual has to do their part. And from the part of government, these have to take initiatives to go green. But the government in Bengal is not acting for this by allowing the 15 year old state buses in the Kolkata city. As we all know that Kolkata is one of the most polluted city in the world, government has to take each possible steps to reduce n control pollution.

I agree with Chayanika. yes the State run buses are still plying wiht their dangerous emissions polluting the entire environment. it is true that the at present almost all modes of public transport owned by private bodies are pollution free, except the state run public vehicles. The government should definitely do something about this.

It is really shocking to find that when our Government doesnt follow and practices that which it teaches. All of us our screaming our lungs out for a cleaner-greener environment, pollution free air to breathe....and for that after a long struggle and much debate..the "15 year old vehicle ban" was at last implemented in Kolkata. But alas one wonders that why do we still cough our lungs out and cant breathe fresh air.well thats because we still find the old and almost broken Government Public vehicles still plying on the roads. These vehicles have obviously crossed the  15 year limit, but still the Government has ways to dupe and prove that they are not 15 year old. God save the Environment!!!!!!
