THE MINISTRY OF URBAN DEVELOPMENT MUST WORK OUT THE REQUIRMENT

We are to face the callenges but what are the challenges. The ever increasing population per unit area and the requirment of quality mix of   water for potable, irrigation and  for other purposes corresponding to these increase is a must.The rain water harvesting storage of river water and even providing new comnnections of water supply to consumer are very difficult as all the empty strip of lands in cities and town has been ocupied by lanes , streets and shops.

There need to be a national integrated approach towards sanitary and water supply system BESIDES OTHE R INFRASTRUCTURE LIKE PARKING AND ELECTRICAL SUPPLY SYSTEM, BESIDES GAS.

These can be taken care by the government while planning new towns and settlement colonies as one need lot of space for laying water lines, string and pumping, treatment plants and pumping stations.

Let us not put the cart before the horse and even we do not have enough time to descide wheter it  was egg first or the hen.

Perhaps I am sure that we are not discussing the providing of edequate water supply to existing system of houses , towns and cities wher we get only water for a few hours like Bombay and Delhi.

Cities like Calcutta, Bombay and Madras can get sea water from sea and the river water can be stored well before sea by creating dykes , ponds and grond storage system and avoid flooding of these cities during rainy days.
