Why don't you address issues like poverty, over population, suicide, failure, competion, reservation. You can still smile? Oh yes, I forgot death, destruction, disease, and the 7 sins. If Siddharth had thought this way, there wouldn't be Buddhism!!!

Intelligence has everything to be postive, means u r so divorced from reality. Eg, a boy will never accept rejection bec he is too postive about himself, u r a joke!!! And a girl who needs help will never get it bec she is too psotive despite everyuthing in her life being wrong!!!! Instead of hiding the truth, seek real help and change your destiny around!!!

No one got the point. The idea is to feel the dissatisfaction and temporary nature of fleeting material possessions. Not embed yourself in them!!!

Intelligence is the cerebral function of a human being. Intelligence is nothing but an approach of a person towards any situation, problem, achievement or difficulty(in shorts.. towards life). Also, intelligence gets developed with the well developed thoughts in human brain. With intelligence, one can analyse, compare, look through, conclude and find out solution on any problem. Now the root causes of depression are various. Depression may be the result of the effect of the wrong decisions in life. Depression may come because of failure, in relationships, comparisons with other people or lacking of desired things in life. So, its not necessary that every intelligent person is depress or not depress. As sometime, though we are intelligent enough to deal with the problem we loose control over it and it leads us towards depression. intelligent country like USA was into deep depression due to sub-prime crisis in year 2008-09. Many intelligent people had committed suicide because of financial depression and even their intelligence could not help them to get rid of it instantly. So its a vague argument that " The more we intelligent, the more depress, we!!"

To be happy, you need both intelligence and wisdom. A very large percentage of us have been endowed with more intelligence than is necessary for us to function, but not the wisdom to use this intelligence. Therein lies the rub.

‘Intelligence is the cognitive ability of an individual to learn from experience, to reason well, to remember important information, and to cope with the demands of daily living’. - Sternberg In fact, a high IQ is a good predictor of depression. Why? Simply because those with higher intelligence are amazingly “creative” with their inner dialogues. Some of the characteristics of high intelligence are an above-average imagination, superior verbal ability, and advanced analytical skills. This is the perfect recipe for cooking-up very elaborate, and very negative, inner dialogues. And that’s exactly what happens. This helps explain the well-known phenomenon of “tormented geniuses”. Simply, their submission response is often out-of-control. And, despite their genius, they don’t know how to stop it.

agree, sheetal, intelligence and depression are not correlated. The more intelligent the more managerial skills you have to manage, the things I find intelligent people more confident and not depressed.Depression is related with confused state of unintelligent person.

Dear Prithvi Raj, Knowledge and intelligence are two different things. A person having knowldge but if he does not have a skill how to use that beneficially, cannot be treated as intelligent. Further, confusion is created only on account of partial knowledge only. If a person is well knowledgeable, he is difficult to be made confused. Persons with shallow knowledge or no knowledge get more confused on certain issues, even if they are right. They are not so confident to say something with certainty and assertiveness.

If the intelligence creates confusion then for sure it is not an intelligence. It's just a formal study that one completes and assumes the intelligence has come along with the study , and now it is creating confusion. Infact to resolve the confusion is the intelligence, so may the term is not understood properly here a kind of fallacy
