The way the politicians behave, the way politics of governance is carried, are evidencing a fact that politics in this country has become a venture/business for monetary gains. Therefore it is very natural for any politician to act stub urn when there is an open threat to his interest.Karnataka CM is no exception to this political thumb rule that is practiced by the politicians in general and is not trade mark of any single party.Morality & ethics in politics is merely a fable that is used to misinform the citizens. There is no dearth of Yedurappas in our country...be it UPA or NDA

They are public servants, voted into power, and are bound to earn at least five times what they have invested during election. How can you expect them to reveal such matters to public? They are not at fault, the system is! The best thing would be to bring about change in the People Representation Act, 1951 (electoral reforms) before the next general election, fix a bar to spend on election, and monitor their funding for election with microscopic vision through tough means. If malpractices are found, the Election Commission should debar the candidate for five to ten years from contesting elections. Then, they would be very happy to declare their IT returns in public view.

ALL data of ALL public servants has to be an open book. The employers of these politicians have a right to know what tricks their employees are upto. Politicians live off the fat of the land. Thr openness of the transactions that they do will make them more careful

Politicians are supposed to be working for the people and should not have a personal life. They say that their life itself is dedicated to serving the people and the country. If this is to be taken at its face value, their IT returns should also be in the public domain. I wonder what the law says on this. Any experts on Law in this forum can comment on this?

Any person holding a public office must maintain transparency. The persons’ IT returns, bank accounts or even private life are subject to society’s scrutiny. No second thought about this. In a democracy, the person is accountable to the people that he/she is governing. The politicians clearly misuse the words “privacy” and “unless proven guilty” which were supposed to protect honest and law abiding citizens. I strongly oppose refusal to reveal personal IT returns or bank accounts under some pretext or other.
