there are so many of our super stitions which are scientific,in olden days when ever people found a particular place to be prone to accident they made a temple, mousce or a church or a gururdrawra in and around that place so that accidents are avoided.and some prayers are done in that place to cure it of the bad effect.

No superstitions are scientific... And if it is scientific it becomes a fact for us.
The more you believe in them, the more you'll suffer..!
Just because, we have heard from our older members of family and that too without proper reasoning or logics... they just HOME a negative thought in our mind.. So.. it's only if you believe in them, they'll exist...
You don't, and they are just like that.. Instead believe in yourself, believe in the power that lies in your subconcious mind.. And you can make wonders!

Added further : What is the logic behind vaastu? nothing. But we follow. What is the logic behind following a particular religion? nothing. But we follow one
Superstitions are time tested assumptions. In basic science there are three aspects-- assumptions, theory and principle. When an assumption is empirically found to be correct even though without any supporting theory it is accepted. Once an assumption can be explained with some theory or principle but cannot be formulated properly it becomes another theory. Once a theory can be formulated after due experimentation it becomes a principle. Certain superstitions have over a period of time become priciple. Never forget that when Aryabhatta gave the assumption that earth is round and it revolves around the sun it was not a principle at that time. What i want to say is we are always guided by the source of information available till date. The level of knowledge and information restricts our thinking. The medicinal value of NEEM was superstition till a few years back. Now it is one of the most sought after herbal plant once its medicinal values have been experimented in laboratories and found to be correct scientifically. There are many superstitions which have not yet been proved scietifically but practically they are as claimed. That cannot be the reason to call it unscientific as we may not have that much level of techniques as on date to prove them scientific. Science evolves and accepts what can be proved experimentally based on certain theories and principles. Hence so far the supestitions prove to their claim, they should be taken as true.
Yes, I am aware of one such superstition that has a huge scientific reason! I am sure all of us have heard of the Peepal tree?? This superstition is around that!!
For the uninitiated a Peepal tree is Ficus Relgious or Ashwattha in sanskrit! Trees have been used in making of homes for centuries now. Peepal is supposedly good wood that has the quality to survive rain, sunshine or winters and hence it was used foremost for these purposes. There were people who knew that Peepal in fact is a tree that releases MORE oxygen in the air than the other trees. Hence they are trees of tremendous importance to us all. In India the pundits gave it a huge religious twist!! They declared that Peepal tree is the abode of all evils and demons!! And henc eanybody who goes near it would be haunted by these spirits and would naturally DIE!! To make this belief stronger, these pundits advised that all small temples of Lord Hanuman (the Monkey God) have to be built and religiously established under these trees only because the God is supposed to the destroyer of all EVILS!! Now this stance has secured the fact that all Hanuman temples are essentially under Peepal trees and Peepal trees have been rescued to a very large extent!!
Very interesting ... What do you guys say?? :))

The superstitions are not scientific. Superstitions are something that is the result of our observation about which we have no reasons actually. For example in Hindu religion people don`t go for any auspicious work like marriage or other such things. But we can see a number marriages in other religion and they do all the things they want and nothing goes wrong with them. So it is nothing but a sheer folly of mind. By

All the so called "Scientific Superstitions" given here are no where superstition. There are completely scientific. Superstition means something which doesn't have any scientific touch neither it is mentioned anywhere. Over the years man developed these beliefs based on his inferiority over certain things around him but that's just his mental condition. It has nothing to do with science. The points like Chakras and Considering Sun and Moon as devatas are not wrong because without them life is not at all possible for a single second also...Cases like black cat crossing or walking under the ladder are completely unscientific thus can be considered as superstition.

Superstition and Science are mutually conflicting words. Can we think about a barren woman with her children!
But it is a ticklish job to sort out the age-old beliefs into superstitions and scientific beliefs. We cannot afford to be careless about this, lest we should lose a valuable belief or practice simply because our intellect does not measure up to it!
