The recent proposal for the inclusion of RTI Act as binding on sports bodies in this country are commendable. Yet, I believe certain ministers in the cabinet resisted. It is highly deplorable. I think it is time the sports bodes open up their accounts to the public.

u all can be right but the main problem is in India that is is a democratic country but more over the people are not using there voiting rights very less people are using there votes so the main concern is if it will be in open than again it will loose it's dignity so no doubt the proposal is very nice but before it we should spread the awareness about it.

Thanks Makesh for referral. Yes Sports bodies should come under RTI. Where directly or indirectly the bodies receive any payment from Govt. should be under RTI including Cricket.

I think we should be ashamed to be taken for a ride every consecutive year in the name of IPL. If there is nothing to hide, let the BCCI allow the Govt. to investigate the allegations.

There are factors that have built the game other than people's love of the game.

The players and spectators are just a front to the larger 'cobweb of evil' that makes the sport so rich.

Free flow of black money, abuse of models, unwanted display of wealth and flesh in parties have made the IPL circuit a national shame.

Frankly ask yourself, Why do all the cricketing councils in India have politicians at the top. Inspite of their rather hectic schedule, why do politicians try to capture power in these councils.

Cricket administration in India will put real estate mafia to shame. The day the ordinary spectator becomes aware of this fact, it will indeed be tragedy.

"..Its only because till IPL III happened and made Modi come under the scanner, none of us even remotely needed to understand transactions in these sports body..."

i respectfully disagree with that statement. There are many people who are not concerned with IPL. There are people who are concerned with:

  • how much was spent on national games?
  • how much was spent on national athletic championships?
  • how much was spent on sports hostels?
  • In spite of the government providing money for major tournaments, why is it that the sports men and sports women have to sleep on the grass in stadiums?
  • Why is it that proper food is not provided in sports hostels?
  • Why is it the travelling allowances for sportsmen for certain games/events are not paid even after years?
  • ...
  • ....many many more questions like this.

The public as well as the sports persons have the right to know the answers for the above questions. It is not that sports is connected to me in any way. As a citizen of this country I have the right to know these things.

It is because of this lazy attitude terrorists are able to leave suitcase bombs in a crowd because he knows that none of the Indians there will ever question him.

Vinoy I ditto your point of view on the subject. The rule should be changed and RTI should be applicable on each and every company. I feel this will really make our economy transparent.

Yes, it ought to come under RTI. Most of the corruption that we see daily has mostly politicians involved in it. In case of sports it will expose more non politicians like coaches, admins, managers etc who are considered as saints by the public but in fact the opposite is true. sports is one such area where it is very easy to loot money because it doesn't impact common man in any way.

BCCI has made enough money and its now become a safe haven for failed politicians like Sharad and those who wants to make money at the fag end of their career. Yes, its now time for BCCI to open up their accounts and expose the corrupt to the public. No doubt because of its corrupt setup, it has made a third world team in England out of World Champions.

Mr Ramchand People have been interested in a lot of those things that you have penned down.. No doubt! When I read the pathetic state that the Indian Womens hockey team is in, my heart goes out to those sports women but that is all I am limited to do!! I cannot reach out to them and do what is necessary. When you look at the BCCI, supposedly the richest body, you feel that it is filled with crooks! But be mindful of the fact that its the SPONSORS money that has made BCCI what it is. Cricket is religion in India and games like Football, hockey, Badminton (now gaining some lime light because of Saina), Gymnastics, swimming, Tennis (apart from Lee and Hesh team) and all the other such sports have found NO TAKERS!! Isnt the state of these going to be pathetic? Will these bodies ever have money so to speak? Will the athletes who give their life and passion to excel in these games be ever recognised and given the due deligence?? What are the transactions that you need to govern in these games? Its by far and large cricket that has come under the scanner!!

How many of you on the other side are really going to USE RTI?? How is anyone of you in anyway even remotely connected with SPORTS as the core competency of your job requirement??? Harsh right?? Well lets face facts, there is no reason for us to get excited about the RTI on Sports bodies. Its only because till IPL III happened and made Modi come under the scanner, none of us even remotely needed to understand transactions in these sports body. BCCI is undoubtedly the richest sport body, but why should we be connected to it? let that be done by the corporates who sponsor our Indian team, the matches and the IPL's please.
