I would rather prefer to be a franchise in this current market situation than starting my own business. I am not against entrepreneurship but right at this moment when market has not yet been stable. It does't look favourable for me to start independently. Now the franchise market is good. So, its good to work as a franchiser.

Take up a franchise because the risk involved is much less ,once you give the one off fee to the franchisor you just have to pay royality of 5%-8% monthly of your profit. And in return you get a well established brand and there business process tried and tested. They also help you to establish the infrastructure and give assistance in every possible way.

Take a franchise because the risk factor is much less as you will go for a well established brand and once you give the one off fee everymonth you just need to give 7-8% royality....to the franchisor.

and there are many advantages like you will get a training and business process from the company whereas when u go for enterpreneurship you  start from scratch .the investment is much higher and the risk is all yours.

I feel that The time is good to take up franchisee .when the market is low,the terms can be negotated to our advantage.which will put us in a already established market comfortably.

Ofcourse which franchise to choose in the present scenario is important

I agree with Akhilesh in the current scenario its better to be a franchise. Reason being as a Franchise you get access to market some of the established / well established global brands.  But by saying so I don’t mean that not to branch out on our own.

In fact I would say that being a franchise would be like being in a school to develop or hone ones business / entrepreneurship skills. It gives an opportunity to understand the various strategies applied by some well established brands, nature & psyche of your future potential customers, vendors, employees etc. before jumping into it on our own.

And once we understand these then just wait for the right time for the market to stabilise / bounce back, then go ahead start out on own and be an entrepreneur & chase your dreams.

I think franchising is the best option, not just now but in any kind of situation.May be we are tied to one brand and that may limit our entreprenuerial expousure. In my opinion business is all about making money out of our investment. we have to very carefully choose the right brand to go with in the first place, other wise any kind of business will not give you any gurantees to success.

I agree with you Mr. Majumder. Currently, the market condition is really very bad. It won't be wise to start a business now than to wait for some time. Retail is in boom. Then why not to earn some money instead ? After it becomes stable, we can start a new business....

That can be a tough one. That could be a yes or a no. It really depends on the the type of products or services that you want to offer. Sometimes it's easier to just start with a franchise because many of the important aspects of business are already in place.

BUT there is a lot to consider when going into a franchise. You have to consider many things and decide if you are capable of owning a business or franchise. Do you really have the mindset for business? Is franchising really good for you as a career? ETC, ETC.... You see, there is much to consider and that's why it's good to get personal counseling in this area.

If you decide to start a business on your own or open a franchise you need to strategically think about things. You need to get consulting and develop a strategic plan. Once you get wise counselling from a consultant then you can make a better decision.

I have nothing against taking up a franchise. We represent brands for franchising and have also been instrumental in finding suitable franchisees. At the same time we have also successfully incubated businesses from scratch and seen them grow from strength to strength.

The question therefore is not whether franchising is good or a start up from scratch is good. The key question should be "which is suitable when?"

If you have a unique idea or a concept, committed and confident about it, I would strongly suggest to go for it. Launch it on your owm or if you need help find out if there are some experts who can mentor the business. We at Collabrant Incubators have a combined experience of over 200 years counting all Associate partners and would be able to guide your business to succeed. Whether it is making a business strategy, designing and implementing the engineering or manufacturing  plans, market research, assessment & marketing, investment and financial projections, setting up the organization and hand holding the running of the organization till it reaches a stable position.

On the other hand if you are interested in having a running business in your local area, would like to take limited risks, are willing to accept a decent ROI, I would recommend you to go for a franchise. However, before you select the brand or the franchise model you have to make a careful analysis of your strengths and weaknesses vis-a-vis the business you are thinking of getting into. Many of the business failures we have seen are because the entrepreneur has not done a proper study or dip stick to understand whether the business suits him. Here again my advise to you is to please look for an adviser who has the experience and could guide you with the study, analysis and hand holding if required to get your franchise business growing. Many may argue that this role will be played by the franchisor himself. While it is true that the franchiser will give you support and help, please remember he is ultimately more concerned about his brand and its performance than anything else. So if it means he has to sacrifice your business he will not hesitate.  Whereas that is not the case with your business adviser / consultant. If you don't know anyone with the right credentials come to Collabrant Incubators. We will get you through!

THINK BEFORE YOU LEAP! ALL THE BEST!

always remember one thing friend. Its now or never. After becoming an entreprenour. You will face compitetion then also. So whats the guarantee market will become stable very soon ? When you are franchise you are working under somebody. Tomorrow if that closes then ? Its better to have something of your own than to work under somebody. Know one thing. Right now the market is growing. It is neither degrading where you have no opportunity nor in boom where there is too much competition. This is the best time to make new contacts and start a business so that till the time compitition grows in boom, you need not struggle for establishing yourself. Now demand is there. Why not to fulfill it ?
