As Global car manufacturers are charting out plans to cement their position in India by building an all India car that is tailor made to suit the preferences of the Indian buyer and the Indian roads. Companies such as General Motors, Maruti Suzuki, Volkswagen and others have either commenced work on the Made-in-India car or are in the final stages of drafting the plan.  So will this Made-in-India tag work or not?  what are your views on this...

According to me it will work the entire car is built in India, and that to keeping in mind the preference of an Indian consumer and for the Indian bumpy roads, where the high end cars from these car makers fail miserably, so yes this Made-in-India tag will work and one will see an increase in the buyers for these cars which will be more fuel efficient and less trouble..

There has been an article that 22 % Americans would prefer to buy "Made in China" cars & 11 % americans would prefer to buy " Made in India" cars. due to the recession & volatility in fuel prices; the worldwide customers will now be looking our for cheaper , smaller & more eficient cars.

Then in my Opinion , in place of Made in India , Made for India will be suitable. We dont need to copy anyone , what do you say?.

The car makers Mr. Sharma is referring are all having full fledged manufacturing plans in India with considerable effort on local sourcing......this may infact help the carmakers in reducing their price globally by using India as an export hub for selected markets. Moreover, quality cars has always been appreciated and all new launches has seen more than expected sales figure.

The indian customers have evolved & now demand good quality products at affordable pricing. It is of less importance if it is Indian made or not.

No i don't agree with Mr.sharma on this just to lure customers with Made-in-India tag is not possible, customers are very price conscious, all these big car makers what you are talking about, even if they make cars in India, the price will be relatively high and one can't afford such cost during financial crisis, so the good old car makers of india are in better shape in the future market!!
