Bihar Assembly elections were fought on the agenda of development. For a state where voting has been taking place on caste lines, this has been a welcome change. But still we see elections fought on cast basis in many parts of the country.

So, what do you think guys, Is development the new mantra for winning elections?? OR is it still cast based?? share your views on this...

Bihar has today thrown the standard argument from the Congress and the RJD that the NDA is a party that is communal. The argument between communal and secular has been rejected. The job requirement for any govt that gets eleceted is performance. So, yes today development matters, and people are fed up with cast based agenda for winning elections.

Yes , Bihar indeed has shown the way and set a benchmark.  So who ever wants to be a successor of Nitish has to peform !!  Moreover this coupled with many other things are converging slowly and converging for good.  There is more awareness among the people and it is growing day by day.  People are getting more educated about the processes and representatives involved.  They even are raising voices if something is inappropriate.  So slowly we are moving towards a better and a transparent system and projects like Unique Identity would help tremendously in achieving it.  Hope to see more of such initiatives.

A qualified yes. One sparrow does not a summer make. My guess is: the people of Bihar were in such a deep dump, development wise, that the improvements came like a breath of fresh air, for a populace fighting for breath. However, once a society matures on the development scale, each bit of incremental development may not carry the same value. Look at more 'developed' states like Karnataka or Haryana - after reaping the benefits of economic development, they seem to have slid down the parochial bar, with old equations of caste & clan raising their head again.
