GMail: Pros: Faster, eyes catching, labels, conversation views, free POP, IMAP, Google Talk! Cons: Contacts management, not easy to send/forward to multiple (large) contacts, lack of color selection, unable to print the messages from the ‘Inbox’... Yahoo!: Pros: Unlimited space, Yahoo Instant Messenger, Folders, changeable theme color, can print the whole messages directly from the Inbox... Cons: Not that easy to use, especially searching, annoying advertisements - overlapping to messages, no free POP or IMAP. Can think of more pros and cons in both if needed. Conclusion: GMail is on the rise and definitely have an upper hand as of today; that does not make them the best. There are many things that these two competitors can improve on. I am very optimistic about the next big thing on web.... Google Wave!

It is just like the ups and downs in one’s life. How can one predict the future? We can only base our arguments on historical information and trends. Many companies which have histories of temporary lull have come back strong & sturdy into the market. If it succeeds in developing an agile team and implementing powerful strategies, why should Yahoo take a back seat? The success is to keep the name loved and liked so that when you come back with innovative, more customizable features there would be users. Yahoo is a lovely name!

Yahoo will bounce back. all previous users of yahoo will come back again to its domain. all yahoo users are migrated to gmail because of its better linking to all like google search, orkut, picassa, etc.... "better part is its appearance". now yahoo is also coming up with its appearance and network.... after some gap... and i am sure it will catch up its previous glamour... the information provided by prardhana devi is adding some spice to our debate..

According to me Gmail was on the heels of yahoo all the time and was threatening yahoo all the time and the email market in many countries, its growth rate vis-a-vis Gmail has left a lot to be desired. Also, India is among the biggest markets for Google in terms of dominance, it is said that three out of top five websites in India are owned by Google according to Alexa, so by this we can understand that how Google is having an impact with its products out there, people virtually depend on it, so it comes no surprise that Gmail has overtaken yahoo now, but Yahoo with its new advertising strategy will surely give a good fight for gmail.

Gmail has many feature which are far better than Yahoo. They have given many additional popular websites which can be accessed through Gmail id. There are many separate features like Google docs where people can do their important works by getting connected online immaterial of whichever parts of world they belong to. All these features have overtaken the market of Yahoo. I don't see Yahoo's recovery very soon...

sorry im opposing the argument made by Mrs Resmi.. As says history is the way to the future... so no one cant easily throw away the things behind its history.. So i dont think Yahoo will succeed Gmail in a recent future.. because while using Gmail we feels somthing own.. that is the difference i think with the gmail and yahoo.. my first Id is with yahoo but for last 4 years im using gamil and refer it to my frinds..
