It is said that the telecom regulator TRAI has told Government to put new telecom licenses on hold, as the space for telecom providers is getting crowded as there are more number of players and yearly the Numbers are increasing for new telecom licenses, and people with no relevant experience in this field are applying for licenses, so what do you think do we need more Telecom providers?

More license means more investment which is good for the country... As telecom service has evolved from being a luxury to essential service prices are more affordable even for common people, customers will prefer quality than to go for cheap service... With less than 40% teledensity, any operator which is able to maintain a level of service will always be able to get customers.. In some countries, regulators try to raise the entry barrier to protect the existing players if they are not in goof financial health... But if you look at the level of profit the existing telecom players are making there is always a scope for moderation..

I think it is a right move from TRAI as the DoT the Department of Telecom is doing its survey regarding this like how many telecom providers should be there in a region and there are many licenses pending like AT&T and others like moser baer,DLF,Ispat etc are in the line for new licenses, but then TRAI doesn't want to push it as the all of them have applied for 2G spectrum which is crowded at the moment and many of them even don't have relevant experience in this field to obtain license and hence, TRAI has done the right thing according to me. So to me we don't need more Telecom providers in already in a much crowded place.

With limited players in the market, now the quality of service has been a major concern among the customers everywhere.Customer always wants to have the choice. When there is no competetion, there will be no quality.I think this is not the right time to set the boundaries. Too many operators may create the confusion for sure but if it helps in improving the quality, then TRAI should revise its decision again. When the MNP gets implemented in India, customers start switching from one operator to the other easily when there are service issues. So,it makes sense to me.

What do consumers want? Choice :-).. so guess, from a consumer perspective nobody minds it.. From a TRAI perspective, it can probably be a more thoughtful decission than simply giving consumers a choice. The Urban and Rural Telecom density is something which only a handful of operators are looking at right now, the technology required in rural can surely be as efficient and yet not as much spectrum hungry.. TRAI can think of allocations on those lines.. Just a thought..

No need to increase the crowd of telecom. We already have a lot. These days, many communication are coming who have less experience in this field causind bad service. With so many providers, only one thing can come out. That is, get cost and less service...

The only good thing that can come out of umpteen telecom operators is that you may get great costs. The flipside is that you may never be able to keep a tab on your cell pjone bills or even your faughters / sons!!

I think that there are enough SP's already and the serious downside would be that some businesses mau close down prematurely and suffer setbacks!! It xould destroy a company and put a lot of people jonless!! Its enough I think. Good move for now GOI!!

Thanks for the referral Sonal! :)

I feel already they are 14-15 new ones coming out in the next few years and existing ones are investing hugely for new circles and tieing with other country based . Every person right from14-15 year old to senior citizen has a phone in his hand irrespective of his occupation. Whole world is concentrating on indian mobile market.

Anyways today if they block, i dont think they will block everytime. Because thats what is business. New ones keep entering and competition keeps increasing.
