Transparency in the matter of assets of judges -is it not fair?

Upholding the Central Information Commission (CIC) order that office of the Chief Justice of India (CJI) is well within the ambit of the Right to Information (RTI) Act, the Delhi High Court Wednesday ruled that judges should declare their assets. In a historical judgement, Justice S. Ravindra Bhat said judges are accountable but they are also subject to some constraints. He said, “A judge is not unaccountable as is sometimes wrongly understood and is subject to several constraints. The judicial branch lacks either the ’sword or the purse’ controlled by the other two branches.”

Judge also said that the office of Chief Justice of India is a public authority and it is well within the purview of the Right to Information (RTI) Act. Your opinion in this subject may be expressed.

Transperancy in the matter of the affairs of the public office and its officers is always good symptom of demcracy. Judges being judiciaries are on the top of the administrative set up of the country shall according to me be subjected to TRI Act and the judgement of the Honourable Delhi High Court is fair. Is there any reason for not applying such Act ment for for better governance, I personally feel there is no reason for doing so.

More than the judges our judiciary should make it compulsory to make the politicians declare their assets before they apply for their ticket and after four years of the completion of thier term. That would help in a much bigger way than the Judges themselves.

I agree on the part of the transperency, but I believe that it has to be a more meaningful transperency. Politicians have to be targeted on an immediate basis!!
