Our students don't have basic facts right, how can we get rid of text books. Other forms of teaching have to help the main course, not distract students.

a subject must be added something like "current issues" so that when they finished studies they will be having an idea in which way to go and all. right now many of them depends on what their parents or friends are suggesting which in many cases are proving wrong.

Without text , nothing comes out. All experiments, discoveries ,are , all in text mode. Knowing text mode help understand the concept and develop analytical skill to be a successful practitioner. Our learning start with Alphabets. Textual leaning is to be enforced to the learner, along with sufficient amount of practicals where needed. Because all can not be illustrated by practical. There are constraints everywhere.

In today's competitive world the Focus should be to develop divergent, independent-thinking abilities (thinking outside the box, taking the path less traveled) through a challenging, but FUN, learning process. We can't get rid of text books but only the theoretical part of it is never going to help children

Depends upon the educatiioner with what skill the information has been provided to the pupil. If education has been given practically but has been collected by the books and pupil have grasped it very well then text books and practicals both carry their own importance.

What you want for students. easy learning or practical understanding? I think the most important thing is other than these two. this is concept building. The students read and do practical but they always lake the concept of the things. they can not build the new concepts on things they have learned. our education material is not very good. there needs a lot of modification in it.

If you describe an elephant to your child, will it stick to its memory more than if you show an elephant to your child? There is the answer. With just textbooks, the student reads, commits to memory and vomits it in the exams - mostly without understanding. But if it is experienced, it will stick longer and sink in deeper. To give another example, textbook oriented is like learning cycling by reading a book.

A child starts learning by word of mouth from its parents, so teaching should be so good that the child grasps it by word of mouth so class room teaching is necessary but for fuller understanding of the concepts practical knowledge is required to strengthen what is learnt by teaching. However one feels that most of the schools in India are ill equipped or underequipped in terms of teaching personnel and also laboratories etc, so the infrastructure has to be strengthened.
