Recently there was a debate on usefulness of social networks . Someone has answered in positive and others in negative . In my opinion if it is used optimally, its a good passtime , but my worry is about children , who waste lot of time , which  they could have used for their studies . They put their photograph on the facebook and look for comments . I have seen many children wasting  their nights .What I feel that a facility when extended is difficult to retrench but value addition can be done by putting informations as under :

1) Putting 4 questions on general knowledge

2) Puting 2 hard words of english , which will help them in GRE/CAT or other examinations

3) Put 2 questions on assessment of logical ability .

Childern have to surf the facebook in any case but when they will see the above questions , they will like to attempt these and it would definitely help them in future .

I support but unless and until it is not addiction. Bcoz excess of everything is bad. Too much of tasty things is not good for health.

It's amazing that none differs with the argument and this is the testimonial to Social networking sites, their purpose, whether used favorably OR against mission. Let us circulate it widely so that the main purpose of social networking is achieved and the owners feel pride and satisfied for there launch. BZ to Dr. Ashutosh Karnatak for a brilliant idea.

agreed very good idea if it can help children.we have to accept the fact that social net works are here to stay & wiill no doubt keep reinventing themselves. children will also continue to keep using it, no one can stop it, so if this way we can minimise harm to children it will be g*

I agree with the above .All social network site should have something to enhance knowledge .

If someone can approach facebook and other websites - pl do the same to save our young generation .

Along with the Save Tigers- we should promote

"Save Youngesters"

BRILLIANT, Dr. Ashutosh Karnatak,

I express my gratitude to your thinking and really commend you for the idea.

In addition to what your fear above I would like to warn young generation that not to misuse social networking sites for cheap entertainment and pass time. Also, why they want to post their in heart feelings which no body is bothered for. In fact, I've noticed that young students innocently write something on the wall for which if known by parents, they feel ashamed of activities and movements of their children. It might reflect to family culture as well and bring adverse impression about their parents for the ill-culture being inculcated among the children.

So, children are advised not to put their personal photographs, personified feelings, grievances and filthy literature on social networking sites to avoid bringing in bad name to their parents.

Once again thanks Dr. Ashutosh.

Regards!

I agree.

As in any activity that has a goal to look forward to will build character and give a sense of achievement.

On the other hand any activity that is carried out solely to derive supposed pleasure will go into a neverending loop where neither pleasure nor a sense of well-being, but only addiction is achieved.

The blind addiction to social network only gives a false sense of 'doing something'.

There is a large number of people, however, who find these networks very useful and are profitably using the social networks to their advantage.

Unfortunatelt they are a very small minority.

We should use social networks but not at the cost of precious time loosing in vain. Because excess of everything is bad. There are now organisations working on social network addiction.

The worst way we can spoil the future of chldren are by dictating terms - either way will distance off & get into his own world of grey knowledge (no amount of policing will help) or they would turn into an a vulnerable person whom others can utilize. So, just teach them values, follow a life you want them to follow, stop prying and look at the symptoms - its apparent if you really dont want to accept or ignore.
