Mr. Khaitan, there are strong corporate lobbies to field candidates. Railways and Airline ticketing sites are safe because they are closely monitored and there are no vested interests to hack them. Whereas, political scenario is different. Once elected, they are there to rule for five years. Money power can do anything in this! A few days back, you were screaming about your ID hacked by some vested interests. This site is not of a political significance, yet many were making hue and cry! There is no sanctity in this process. What we need to change is to increase the polling percentage. In essence, the ruling party and their allies are ruling the country with only 50% mandate which is not a good sign. This scenario should change! We have to do something to see that at least 85 to 90% polling percentage to decide our future. For that, we have clear-cut two years to educate the mass about the value of every vote! Use your internet to do that in a positive way! Conduct Advocacy Campaigns to educate them about their constituency and their past work of the leaders who are already elected and publish the records of those persons who are offered tickets by the National Parties as a campaign. Ask for performance appraisal of every elected representatives once a year and those who have failed, as per manifesto, should be barred for five years forthwith. This will send a warning signal to those who wants to come in centre-stage doing nothing only to garner wealth!

You are right, EVMs are easy to manipulate, but have you ever heard - Railway Site for Internet Ticket being hacked...... The Internet Voting System will be as safe as our Railways Site.......... Traveling by Railways may be Unsafe, but the Railway Site for Internet Booking is Safe..... LoL

Mr. Khaitan, novel idea, but impractical given the size and nature of population in the country. EVM, many claim, is not free from hacking! India, too, will evolve when we have better literacy rate and penetration of internet in the nook and corner of this country and the surfing of internet is free from hacking and other vulnerabilities.

Yes Ajay it is a good idea but before put into practice one should ensure no hacking takes place, if that is possible then this will ensure everybody cast their votes. Once the voting exceeds 80% or more then it will be real choosing of government.

First thing is the digital penetration in India which is abysmally low specially in rural areas. Secondly the seriousness of the voting process shall be missing in the voting through Internet. Present system of EVM is quite simple and efficient.and to make it more reliable the ELection Commission is soon going to introduce a cross check system. As per this system there are two clauses: a)print out of the cast vote shall come out from the printer attached to EVM,hence making the voter satisfied with written proof. Secondly, the more safe practice could be that the printout after the vote exercise shall appear for five seconds in front of voter and then it shall drop into the safe box.
