The speech had words if there is anything wrong then he will take full responsibilty that statement was enough to point that Modi had stated he was at fault for all doings in IPL fiasco

Hi Ravali, This was not a confession exactly, but an indication that, there are many shortcuts, scandals likely to come up, if the issue is raked up to the bottom. In this game, LM as well as his adversaries (at this instant) will be exposed. But, nothing of that sort is going to happen. The reason is simple. Media as well as general public thrives on controversies and have penchant for sensational news. Soon, a new controversy will make headlines. The whole IPL issue will be forgotten. Complete investigation and finalizing the blame is a time consuming process. Neither media, nor public have this much time.

Obviously, yes! Think of a situation where the untoward happening was not there before the close, he would have roared like a lion, claiming all credits to his favour, and definitely would have made huge announcements about IPL4, etc. Unfortunately, the ring master has succumbed to his own folly - he did a mudslinging exercise, ignoring the risk involved in antagonising the ruling party - facing the music now!

I too feel that Mr Modi's final speech leaves room to believe that he hides much. Transparency is not his strong point - and the same may be held for BCCI too. A good business leader up to a point, his ego and uncontrolled fondness to speak too much to stay top honcho in the limelight seems to hasten his slide down.

If anybody believes that Modi was confessing, he should be living in dream's land. Modi was trying to continue making fools of the public and building support for himself. Everybody knows that the whole IPL is a drama / entertainment / moneyspinner (for the organisers and the connected). Persons who have not been able to get a share of this pie are pulling him down now. Modi should not continue to take all the moolah himself. correct? He should allow others to share the booty (who ?????????). Correct?

I agree with you Ravali. Modi thought himself to be bigger than the IPL. His pretension to be in command even at the time of imminent termination, only confirms his wrong doing and super ego.

I think Lalit Modi's speech was not very clear during the closing meeting. It appeared like he was trying to justify the acts done earlier. However, the issue will be out in the open when the various charges brought forth by the committee will need to be explained and justification will need to be given.....

The way Lalit Modi expressed his views during the closing of IPL season 3, I felt that he was defensive. Though the facts and figures are not clear yet to public, he was trying to reconfirm and reassure his integrity. There was no need to do this if he was totally clean in his approach.

lalit Mody gave best IPL to give Answer to kapil Dev- at the instance of Sharad Pawar. Mr. pawar brought in Business Money in Cricket- Mr. Mody was used as simple Tool of Sharad Pawar and his Associates. Still, Mr. Mody deed best. Gave good marketing to business community. Good Entertainment to masses. made every one Rich. During his period- every one were happly- Classes as well as Masses. He is pioneer of Best Commercial management in Cricket" IPL". Look What happens In India- Once their Bosses like Mr. sharad pawar withdraws support adn Bold person like Mr. Shashi Tharoor Exposes the vireses of the "IPL" openly. It is Sad that in India- Politicials - still rules and enjoys more powers like Queen Victoria and maharajas on India. I salute Mr. Mody for his lone battle against Back-door masters- rulers like Mr. pawar and others. We will never get better IPL in future. Mr. Mody shall be remebered in History as " Luxurious Cricker management Guru" of IPL. Vijay M.Vaghela

Things are not as simple as they look. Lalit Modi can not do anything in isolation, and all the members of BCCI, were sucking their thumbs when everything was happening. Each of the member is great in his own area, before they came to BCCI as its member. They know whether something is wrong. For 3 years, they were not aware of anything is a silly thing they are talking about. Do you think they prepare a Balance sheet every year. What happened to the accounts of the last 3 years, at least for the accounts upto 31.3.2009, if not for the 2009-10. Who is CFO , or treasurer who was handling the funds, and signing the cheques.!! Where was the finance committee, which has to monitor the finances of the BCCI.! Where are the auditors who have audited the accounts. It is ridiculous to think that the BCCI executive committee is a holy cow, and only Lalit Modi is the deamon. It is quite possible that most of the members of BCCI governiong Committee /Managing Committee are all hand in glove. Mr Srinivasan who is the Secretary, who is also owner of IPL team, how can he issue sacking notice.! Does he not have conflicting interest. Has he expressed it ,and remained away from executive activities.!! Government iwll have to form a committe like the one formed in Satyam case to immediately superceed the managing committee and appoint a new team for handling the future. the past should be investigated by the committee, within a quick time with the help of rteam of CBI duly assisted by Accounting and auditing firm, lawyers and responsible, and respected Industrial house CEO, in the chair. It is not a 100 % study and solution, . A Broad view has to be taken and the issues should be closed, (unlike Harshad mehta scam, or KP scam. It should be like Global Trust bank, which RBI did an excellent job in handing over to OBC, and continue everything.) The new team can take over with immediate effect.

NO... IT WAS A SOFT DECLARATION OF WAR ! Lalit Modi's Speech killed TWO BIRDS WITH ONE STONE... He nicely took this chance to Clear His Stand with his faithful VIEWERS & at the same time, in a camouflaged manner, Declared that HE WILL NOT TAKE IT LYING DOWN. Watch it guys... a lot of HEADS WILL ROLL in the coming days. One Single man cannot pull such a Coup, If Any at all. There has to be a whole league behind. He was the FRONT MAN & had silent & participtory Backing behind him. Look at His Cool Atitude. He has to be a Mind Blowing Actor, if He is ACTING THIS ONE OUT... Even after his suspension, He is unperturbed & absolutely nonchalant in His Body Language. HATS OFF, IF HE IS ACTING, But I doubt. Lalit, was very uncommitted in his speech... He Thanked his Viewers profusely & silently sent an undercurrent message that A THERE ARE MORE SKELETONS IN THE CUPBOARD & they will tumble out, if He is Tickled on the Wrong Side. Happy Debating Friends !

i think modi's speech was not very clear and he alone can not play such a big game. actually he is a "bakra". he does not have strong political background and its very easy to remove him. some big lions must be involved in this drama.

It was no way a confession but all the same it wasn’t necessary. Here, I would like to put forth some of my views. Lalit Modi need not have stated that he would take full responsibility for all that has happened during his price presentation speech. In fact, he should have totally avoided the subject and focused on the match and forefront cricket rather than behind the scene issues. This, in my opinion, was not necessary and was a mistake. Considering the fact that Lalit Modi had a checkered record including a drug charge, etc., it would indeed be a miracle if IPL has been run straightly (without any crooked dealings like match fixing, etc.). But here, Lalit Modi would have not been alone. He surely has been front man, but most others were also making money by staying behind (Of course Lalit Modi, being a flamboyant guy, would have enjoyed all the attention). (Ref. : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lalit_Modi and other sources) I wish to put forth my points regarding the views of some other members - Sharad Pawar and Vijaya Mallya are good friends. So is Lalit Modi and Sarad Pawar. Where ever there is money making and deal fixing, there are no party (support) feelings. Especially between the fixer and the gainer. Here, it is said that Sharad Pawar wanted his own team but was pipped to the post by the Cochin group. Hence, he coaxed LM to raise these questions which led to this controversy. However, since the member of Congress party (Sashi Taroor) was involved and the government was put into an embarrassing state, the Congress has asked Pawar to call for the ouster of LM, since Sashi Taroor was sacked on its part. - IPL was not the brain child of Lalit Modi. He had only organized it and has indeed done a very good job doing so. The concept similar to IPL was earlier stated by Kapil Dev who went on to start ICL. However, since ICC only recognizes BCCI, ICL dint get any players as well as takers from the public. Actually IPL was started to counter the perceived threat from ICL. - I think there are enough and more Event Managers and Talented people to organize and run IPL (Cleanly and without any hanky-panky stuff). - However, IPL did click initially because of all the crooked offers that were made to some franchises as well as select persons. These offers (Money Laundering, IT evasion, match fixing, etc.) definitely had to be cooked up and presented to those involved by a super crooked brain, which Lalit Modi surely seems to be considering his past records. - In the final match, that Pollard was not sent before is very much in everyone’s mind. However, it is a cricketing decision which has to be taken by mainly the Captain along with probably the Coach. If at all such allegations are true, however much coaxing and pressurizing the team owners and others put on the captain Tendulkar, everyone including me would be 200% confident that he would not budge. It is his integrity at stake and he definitely is a very credible personality and would never indulge in such lowly things. So are other players like MSD, Dravid, Kumble, etc. However, there may be and are a few other players who may be a part of match fixing thing that take place. There was no need for LM to raise the ownership issues which has led to his own downfall.

Jealous is a common human behaviour......Plz donot forget about the deeds of Lalit Modi which has given India a new recognition to the world. Its coz of his good "LEADERSHIP" quality that IPL has reached new heights.Use of new generation technology in cricket like spidercams, mike on field n many more has made cricket more intersting.....Also in terms of revenue generation its the highest in the world. "If someone has done so much for the country i dont know why people criticize". In my opinion Lalit Modi has proved himself as the best leader........and he has defended himself nor confessed.....(plz do not misunderstand him).

I don't think so , Ravli. As let me tell you one thing that Mr. Lalit Modi has nothing to loose from here as no one knows him in 2005, except Rajastan Cricket Board( Mr. Runghta & other ). It is Mr. Modi who turn the game /power of Mr. Runghta which continues there for last 30 years(From 1975). IPL is idea of Lalit Modi's super brain. & this situation only occurs due to it's huge success.& everyone wants it's share for money. All of us should keep in mind that this is not real cricket .It's only entertainment under the name of Cricket. Please take a look for list of players for each team. It is rediculous. How can Delhi player Ishant play for KKR? & all these BCCI members against him only because of his connection with BJP.& please remember that everybody wants to make money. If I have an opportunity then I am also going to make money. So I don't think that it is Modi's confession. On other hand we should salute his vision, that even ICC is taking consideration of dates of IPL while fixing their schedule. & if he is guilty then why Mr .Vijay Mallya came to support him who is really good & close friend of Mr. Sharad Pawar. Just watch & see or in other words ''Aage aage dekhiye hota hai kya"? We should not take it seriously because check the details of final match. Is there any need to send Harbhajan ahead of Pollard? I feel sorry for all these players as they are dancing on the tunes of their franchise owner. So just keep cool & watch every drama which is in progress at the ground & behind the ground.
