Are websites all about few well designed web pages? Web designers design the web pages look feel, colour, combination, etc.

Web developers structure the code in such a manner that the site gets maximum hits, which is SEO, free listing on search engine, else have to go for PPC (pay per click) search marketing.

For this content and links matter, how web crawlers like Google will rate and sense the site, place it in an event of search.

In case the site is meant for E commerce then how long the visitor was on the site and where he dropped his cart or which products he picked up for evaluation; this is done by Google analytics and server side scripting.

As per my knowledge web designing is done by the Web Developer if done properly has a very good scope I. This has very simple coding and good for creative people.

What web designers create are disparate objects, unless these objects are weaved properly to make a composite page. Both are two sides of the same coin, one without the other, will lead to traffic jam!

Man, you first need to design a page before you start coding to bring life in the page you have designed. An SEO is done on certain keywords. When those keywords are missing from the site which is very well understood to be part of the design, what purpose does it serve? What use does a logical code serve when you have no idea where to place that logic, in which corner of the page? 

The main code itself is entirely engulfed by the HTML/ DHTML code without which the code renders the application useless. That is the reason why we have Design before Coding in the SDLC phase. Therefore, bow down and give way to the designers for they are the ones who can make or break a coder's career.
