I think it is of humanity because nobody can take the responsibility for accidents. Even though it may be from government side. Accidents are unexpected and no one does it wanted.

But we need to develop the technology in our railway system which will reduce this kind of accidents.....

If this is a political gimmick still for the first time the victims will be getting the compensation by WB govt. But now is the time for the railways to get modernised.

For the first time, the railway accident victims to be compensated by WB Govt. The ground of this historical deccission is quite unknown, is it just a political or real humanity! If humanity, should WB Govt will compensate all the road accident victims in West Bengal in future!

I will agree up to a point. That the compensation must be awarded because

1)   It was no fault of the victims.

2)   They had placed their trust in the Indian Railways.

So whether it was a political stunt or not, the victims would have been awarded the compensation in any case. Only the amount may have vadied.

When  Govt/s. are  there .. both in Central and in State/s, nothing may happen without politics.

But politics 4what/ 4whom  ..  ?  ( In my thinking : this is the most vital aspect of analyzing happennings )

How the Rlys being run in recent months :

- Lack of "safety-security arrangements", eleven big accidents in last fifteen months

- no investments since last one year or so for upgrading signaling system

- not filling up vaccencies in Rly when most post vaccent are for safety-security

- more and more trains being introduced with broken/ old/ repaired recks without arranging man-power

- huge land/ assets of Rly being offered to Private players and thus 'de-nationalisation' of Rly in disguise

- so many committees are formed to distribute Rly money to loyal people in the name of development of Rly image

- a legacy deptt of Central Govt., the Rlys being 'mis-utilised' for promoting somebody as future CM of a state ( Rly is an Indian phenomena - not a state matter.. the state in question may gain all ill-fame for a single person in future days 2come  )

Certainly politics is there in all aspects mentioned above. Politics of 'vote-catching' just with gimmics.

Now, announcing some compensation for Rly accident victims in a sate by a State Govt. may also be for politics. Only difference is that here it in the name of humanity ... intellectuals .. see any harm ?

Yes sharmila, it is of humanity  to compensate the accident victims. But one should know the pain faced by accident victims, in case of death, their kith & kin's loss, sufferings, agony cannot be compensated by money.

Why do you allow the accident to happen at first place.  This recent railway accident is very pathetic &  due to human error, for which innocent lives has to face the consequences.  Technology can help to some extent, but who will set, monitor & maintain these equipments, again human

staff has to be properly trained, proactive & alert & responsible on duty. Not allowed to escape punishment by just pointing to system failure.  Who makes the system it is people.

Getting compensation on time is another story, their position will be worst than beggars at times.  Respect human lives, avoid accidents caused by human error.  We know mishaps can not be avoided cent percent at-least bring down to minimum level & try continuously to bring down to O level.
