As an MBA myself, i would prefer going for entrepreneurship as getting experience in the job field is nice but even if u are workin in a firm for 5/10/15 years u are always working under someone. Initially its risky, but once u are in.... its fruitful

India need entrepreneurs to come forward for them as well as for country. We have abundance of natural resources and talent but mostly look at others for processing and exploiting resources. So in my opinion, MBA grads should carve their future and work for them

MBA colleges must ensure the overall growth of a student during their stay at college level. They can really make sure if a student is Entrepreneur material or need to work first and then become entrepreneur. so if given right kind of guidance during college time i guess we will have increasing no of entrepreneurs. Which normally does not happen at MBA colleges

Entrepreneurship is one of the more divisive specializations at business school. After all, some famous entrepreneurs wouldn’t go within a country mile of an MBA degree. The debate as to whether such skills can be ‘taught’ rages on; however, it could be that detractors are missing the point. The top five business schools specializing in entrepreneurship (alphabetically: Babson, Harvard, IE Business School, Stanford and Wharton,) are not in the business of trying to sculpt something out of nothing. They insist they can help budding entrepreneurs along the way to business success, and at least provide skills that will help graduates in a corporate career. James Donald finds out how.Entrepreneurship is now the second most popular MBA specialisation after international management.

There is nothing more lively and real than "hands-on" experience. Be your own Boss,,,, What is required is self confidence and support from financial institutions. MBA is a course that prepares you for this purpose.... so please do not be under employed sitting in a company following instructions of others....

Hi Friends, With Master of Business Administration (MBA) you are supposed to learn the basics of a business and how to administer it, whether its your own business or else's. I feel, unfortunately the MBA courses do not teach (or may be students don't learn) how to start your own business. Its always about how to manage/administer others' businesses. If we see around there is a large pool of entrepreneures with no MBA credentials yet managing a huge businesses. So to manage a business is a skill sharpened with experience over a period of time. Also, by being MBA if you're willing to manage some one else's business then why not to have your own? With high regards to MBAs, My opinion is -- "Yeh world hai na world, is mein do tarah ke log hote hai. Ek jo MBA karke dusro ka business manage karte hai aur dusare jo khud business shuru karke MBAs ko job dete hai. Tum jitni jaldi dusare logon ki taraf aa jao utna behtar hai..." (There are two kinds of peolple in the world. One who become MBA and mange others' business and the others who start their own business and employ MBAs to manage it. It's better for you if you join the "other" ones ASAP...) ;)

I would say... jump into the middle of the sea and learn to swim. It is amazing what can happen when you throw yourself into the water and you don't know how to swim. If you don't panic, you'll figure it out soon enough. Will you become an olympic swimmer? Now that's the real question. If u are smart, confident, and ready to take a risk... be ready to make it big... otherwise , u wud have a lot to suffer... but otherwise, i wud go with what naushad says... job first ! ..... in a normal life, remember that u wud find it tough to leave a job and enter entrepreneurship with all the risk involved when u have ur family to take care of... please tell me how many people here wanted to be entrepreneurs , went for a job, got exp, and then left the job to start it off... most wud be like... i didnt feel like leave the security of the job... also.... entrepreneurship is not meant for everyone

Hi, I believe as a fresher job is the best way to move ahead. As we enter the world of corporate we will practically learn to deal with problems. Before choosing Entrepreneurship we should have a good network and knowledge sharing which will help us in quick solutions. Because what we learn in our academics and actually we work is a different ball game. So we should prefer job meet with experienced people use those useful experiences at correct time. Priyanka :-)

a fresh MBA grad should acquire some field experience by taking up ajob in the beginning and preparing a financial stronghold for himself, as to start aventure he must require hardcash and most likely he might have done his MBA on financial aids from some financing institutions, hence he should first ward off that debt of banks or family, then start a business.

hiii As an MBA fresher, I think JOB should be the first priority. Everyone wants to be Entrepreneur on one day or other. Everyone want my own profit, my own money, my own... we have various example who started their own business and succeed or failed. failed because lack of business knowledge or lack in understanding the market. Entrepreneurship requires many things one of the important thing is People Management without this any entrepreneur will not success. this People management comes from experience in your JOB. Job gives you experience from ground to the upper management. My view on this is, take some job experience in small scale companies; sometime you need to manage work of others because of lack of employees in an organization, you cant say no, you have to accept that. having an experience of small companies for 6 months, this is the reality. As a programmer in company i did support for clients by remotely or personally meeting them, also presentation and training of product for the clients. So, at the end I would say some experience is must to start your own....and People management is the key for success of business.

I would say , go for a job. The reason is that if you do start a business , what is your first priority ? Obviously , to make a success of your business. Thus , from day one , you and your time and efforts are all focused on just this one objective. This leaves you very little time to get to interact with people who are better than you. Secondly , you get very little time to spend on other aspects of life. Lastly , in the process of interacting with officials at various levels , you tend to become a little cynical. In a job , you get to meet people who have seen other companies , probably quite senior people. There is lot one can learn from them. You learn that there is life beyond work. Provided , of course , you get a job in a good company. Without any investment on your part , you can get to learn best practices. Who knows , you may even be sent for training , and very good training at that. I would say , first learn the most you can out of around 5 to 10 years of working life , and then go into business. By this time , you could have made enough contacts , who may be useful in your business life.

FRESH MBAS SHOULD FIRST TAKE UP A JOB UNDERSTAND THE RUDIMENTS,UNDERSTAND THE PRACTICAL SIDE OF WHATEVER THEY HAVE STUDIED. IN THEORY,TRY TO CORRELATE BOTH.IF THEY CAN VENTURE TO START BUSINESS CAN THEY CAN DO .IDEAL IT WILL BE IF THEY TAKE UP JOB,ANCHOR THEMSELVES THERE AND GROW WITH THE ORGANISATION.

"No human started walking from the moemnt he was born - neither Eistein, nor Bill Gates, nor a a common man. Same way no kid of any paresnts ( whatever they must be engaged in their professional life) has started walking from the day he was born....One has to lean to crawl, fall and again get up so as to be able to walk straight and erect. The same goes with ones mind and skills - whatever feild he is in. Being and MBA is jsut an added advantage to learn to get up faster and walk taller than rest. But the first steps of the ladder have always to be climbed to reach the top... You skip them there are all chances one may fall..... lets reduce those "possiblilites of falling".

Every graduate must work atleast for 5 years in atleast more than one job before opting for entrepreneurship. Many start-ups come to grief because of lack of experience in work life. Ideally, i would say graduate (MBA or whatever) and then 10 years of experience in the industry and then you are, may be, mature enough to attempt entrepreneurship.

Well, interesting question. Personally I don't think a fresh MBA is not able to immediately start to be entrepreneur (in the country where I live, there is a long tradition of succeeding entrepreneurs having very low level of formal education...). Any case, supposing that having a work experience could be seen a right completion for the MBA education, could you please indicate what kind of jobs/ companies are really asking for MBA title in India? I'm asking this as it happens that the local MBAs Association is discovering that people with MBA titles don't experience a significant higher level of job seeking success (if compared with "normal" university graduated people in similar matters like Economy, Enterprise business management and so on...). At least in the italian job market

Fresh MBA Grad will never have real worldly knowledge as well as no experience to tackle the situations. Theoritical and practical knowledge about pros & cons of business and pitfalls is not known to him. It requires experience and thorough knowledge to handle a business SUCCESSFULLY.

JOB... 100% JOB... Even if he comes from a very Financially sound background, an MBA Fresher should opt for a Good Job, where he can Learn, gain Experience, hone his Skills, Do Mistakes ( at the cost of the company ), rectify His Mistakes... GROW & then GO IN FOR ENTREPRENUERSHIP ! Thats the route I would recommend to any & every MBA Fresher. In fact if he is focussed, He / She should go in the exact Industry in which they want to be an Entreprenuer later on... This can be a BULLS EYE for their Career ahead. Happy Debating Friends !
