Most of us agree that we are not happy with the our present eduction system. Particularly the way it is being taught and examcetric approach. Another being incapable &/or insuffcient number of qualified [not just mere degree] lecturers/teachers/professors e.t.c. I believe no government is capable enough or not in a state to realize how education has revolutionised the present india [specially service sector] to bring in some serious change. It can neither address the shortcomming nor has the courage to systematically point the shortcomming which has to be addresses.

But by brining IT into education through e-learning all the problems can be addressed. But for implementing IT we should have a business case and a well define systematic scope based on the pain areas/problems faced by indian education system. So what are the changes that we are expeting for? What can bring in the creativity and innovation? e.t.c

I see great numbers being shown in advertisement by different institutes w.r.t various exams. But i feel pity when i see that so many capable students who could otherwise become scientific drivers, innovators or researchers are just becomming job seekers which gives them a lot of job security. While the subject oriented has been completely replaced with object oriented techniques. This step has partially killed the very concept of reasoning and taking the initiative. Secondly, the incapable professors neither have the skills nor the tools to show the practical implications about what is being taught. As a result what is being read[not learned] is forgot after exams.

We have good literates but few learned people.

It needs a huge cost to implement e-learning in India. Not every schools have a proper computer lab and broadband in India. So it takes a lot of time and cost to implement e-learning in India. But if its implemented properly, it will change the face of Indian education system.

I am more interested in what are all the problems areas of our present education system. Right from the teaching, tools required for reaching, lack of simulation, encouragement, right platform, connectivity, communication e.t.c to mention a few.

I would be glad to know all the issues which would really help in listing down all the issues so that a system can be build. A comprehensive one indeed.

I do not think we need huge cost for implementing e-learning. I agree that every school does not have computers. But another fact is also true that 1/3 of the schools do have. And the existing resources are enough to kick start the process of e-learning. Once the e-learning framework is implemented you do not need recurring costs for books exams and huge fees e.t.c every year. they will be eliminated.

Even if it an issue then in the next 2-3 years half of them should be having otherwise the equilibrium of quality of education across the country will get affected &/or destabilized by paramount. It is inevitable they have to follow the race. 100% is not a possibility. But 50-70% will bring in revolution.

Second, regarding time its just that the right button has to be pressed and it spreads like a wildfire. Ex: [mobile phones - trend setting] [good part is that it can also be integrated with mobile phones, it is limitless]

Thirdly, i have been doing research on this area since 5-6 years before orkut has even come.

The view depends upon the defination of "Education". If the defination or reference to Education is aquiring a skill set then probably "E Learning" is helpful.

In a larger context Education is development of Human being , Human personality in this context I do not see much of a scope for "E learning".

In over all we have completely lost the essence of education to that of aquiring skill set.
